"we wanted to go to the ducal square in charleville and it was raining, we tried to park us not too far. We landed forest avenue, we get off the car and right next to this famous pepper salt restaurant. It was just noon, we asked a gentleman in front of the door if we could look at the menu and as it looked good, we came back. the waiter was very smiling, nice, we he explained the operation of the restaurant and the menus are directly on the tables. We took a local aperitif and he brought us a verrine made of cucumber: excellent. I chose an egg in the inlet hull (cooked to point) with beurred bread wets with ham from the ardennes on and next to the rocket, very good. In the dish I took the fish of the day (it's all done on the day because they don't have a frozen, everything's fresh): I had some merlu with a martini sauce and dry ink with small vegetables and a pdt in the oven, very rich and good. My sisters chose the duck-flying (homemade) and she was, in their words, excellent. Then they took a dessert: one of the lost bread with homemade salted butter caramel and the other of the pheasant with fruits and a little rum: very good. We have been well served and welcomed so we will certainly return there."

"Hello, I used to come and treat myself to good fries and good burgers from the factory for about two years but I have been disappointed 4 times in a row since the summer season. The young people who replace in the kitchen are too lax and they even made fun of my look when I ordered and there was almost nothing in the burger and the steak was barely cooked. I went back with a friend, telling myself that it was bad luck's fault, but then again there was no Maroilles and when we went to bring it back, the young man in the kitchen got angry and then we returned. the burger with the slice of Maroilles not even melted. I'm sorry but we need someone with experience to supervise them. Dsl for this comment but if I don't it won't just be me who will be disappointed."

"It seems there's really little more to say when you have first class, helpful service wonderful food and good value but tis place deserves special mention. Located riverside it's got a charming ambience from the small but comfortable upstairs dining room. A warm welcome and unhurried service make for a very pleasant lunch. Two courses for 15 euro or three for 20 is extremely good value give the food quality. Even the bread was home made and very very good. The menu du jour of course changes daily we had the Jerusalem artichoke veloute with a seafood sauce and prawns that was fabulous. Our chicken main with celeriac puree, roasted potatoes with caramelised shallots and a hint of lemon and oven roasted vine tomatoes. For dessert I chose the salad of oranges with a caramel sauce, chocolate mousse quenelles and brandy crisp biscuit......Such a great meal no hesitation in recommending it and we'll return when the opportunity arises again."
