"Popped in with my Wife and 2 children for an early tea last week. The chap behind the bar was brilliant. He couldn't have made us feel more welcome and couldn't have done enough for us. We ordered 2 meals from the set 2 for £12 menu and 1 from the specials board. Everything was lovely. The giant Yorkshire we had were clearly homemade...where as most would use frozen and the whole meal was tasty and great value for money. All the veg was fresh as well. My daughter had a cracking pudding too. All in all our experience was spot on. Such a nice alternative to the usual chain pub menus we see so much these days. Well worth a visit! We'll be back!!"

"Decided on a curry after a day at Lightwater Valley, also recommended by our accommodation. The restaurant is more like someone's front room, spotlessly clean. There were x2 tables to be served before us, so didn't expect much of a wait, waiter took our order, poppadoms were served really quickly and the sauces were amazing, an hour later we were still sitting waiting for our main course as was the rest of the restaurant, while takeaway people came and went to collect there orders. We were seriously thinking about leaving as our food arrived, and thankfully we sat it out as the food was fantastic. The garlic naan bread was the best I have ever eaten. They do not have a license so if you want alcohol you need to bring your own, but they clear the empties away. They also don't have a card machine so make sure you take cash, and don't go starving!! As you could be in for a long wait, but well worth it."

"that is really a hidden gem in ripon, it is very busy and I advise to reserve in advance. even if it is busy, service suffers not really and all the workers are happy to help. it is authentic, the warm brot and cauliflower that they offer to entice our taste buds alone is worth visiting, it is delicious! eating is full of taste and the menu is burst with the choice and everything is reasonable. will definitely book again at my next visit to ripon, it is a fixed family lover! keep the good work youngs x"

"We have recently moved to the area and have visited the restaurant a few times but only for drinks in the summer where we sat outside. This was the first time we have eaten here and we were not disappointed. Quirky restaurant with so much character and a great atmosphere. The service was good and staff took time to explain all the dishes available on the menu. The food was freshly cooked and authentic. The rump steak churrasco was beautiful as was the deep fried feta! We will be returning. Delicious food and great service, what’s not to like!"

"I was booked in with a group of friends, some of whom I had not seen for a while in person because of covid. I ordered from the early bird menu and had the Sardine Arancia followed by the Scaloppa Dijonese with sauté potatoes. I...was thinking of having a dessert as well when I arrived but was so full after the very generous portions of these that I had just an Americano coffee instead. Indeed the portions were so generous that some in the party were unable to manage just a main course. A box was provided to allow the remainder of a pizza to be taken home. The Sardine Arancia served spatchcock' style in light batter were full of flavour and the various strong flavours in the dish blended extremely well with each other. The sauce that the Scaloppa Dijonese came in was subtly flavoured. However the sauté potatoes were a little dry and this is the only reason why the food has been rated rather than Given the promptness of the service they might have been cooked a little while in advance and kept warm rather than cooked to order. The service was both friendly and very prompt. Either the kitchen is extremely well organised and run or most of the dishes were almost ready to serve before they were ordered. I would like to return here to sample more of the dishes on the menu."
