"We had a great time and stayed over in the hotel... A little mid week treat, the staff where very friendly and welcoming. They accommodated our two dogs that semi took over the pub and made a wonderful gin martini and gave a glass of bubbles to my wife (on the house) for her birthday. Its a super place, super location, super friendly and you feel part of the furniture as soon as you walk in... a place you can loose many hours sipping your martini (or at least i did). The only thing to not and why this hasn't got a full 5 stars is the vegi food options are limited we had to send back the food my wife order and they kindly took it off the bill, but good vegi options aren't hard and there should be a greater selection. Other than that you'll love your stay."

"What a great experience. We initially visited on a Wednesday evening prior to visiting time at Oxford Hospital. The atmosphere was wonderful, and obviously popular with the very friendly locals. Our meals were superb,… and large (especially the onion rings! Time was tight so we had to forego the desert; however, we returned on Friday and enjoyed a leisurely meal. This, again, was of great quality. Really friendly staff. I can really recommend this great pub."

"not locally to witney we were not aware of the hand and the shears until it was recommended to us for lunch when we were in the opposite on a cold winter day. quiet there, half this afternoon, and they placed us through the log burner who kept us very tortured. I had chicken and leckagepis and my wife had a sausage sandwich so that she would also have a place for apron pain and pumpkin. everything was really skurril, including the chips that were about the best we ever had. the torte was homemade and very fleshy, the brot of the sandwiches of my wife was also homemade and surprisingly very light. may they be back in the opposite, so soon they want to fall into dinner, we discover lobster on the menu can not wait. ps the sausage sandwich was actually quite filling out so I had to help my wife with the apple crumb, also quite fab."

"This restaurant is a really nice restaurant that serves great Indian food. It has a great buffet on a Sunday where you can try out a range of different curries and lots of other different Indian food to try. They also have a set menu for the rest of the week when you can get an Indian meal. The only reason why I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is because one of the staff was not very friendly, which was annoying as we enjoyed the rest of the meal so much. Overall though, this is a really nice Indian restaurant where you can get a range of different Indian food."

"This Hotel does not do a buffet breakfast fine but the availability of basic items every morning was really not acceptable. (We stayed 3 days). For example : no fruit no hash browns no yogurt no brown bread and one morning when they were clearly very busy only 12 eggs between everyone. The white bread tasted stale on the Monday morning I had to have mine toasted. Total mismanagement of the person responsible for the ordering of kitchen stock . The breakfast menu only provided two cereals Granola or porridge. The juice tasted as if it was from concentrate the Yogurt if they had any was only plain. There were no bread rolls croissants pastries available. The coffee was good though and the one morning I had poached eggs they were perfectly cooked. The Hotel was very clean and the staff very nice, polite and attentive. The rooms are cleaned well and provide a hairdryer and tea coffee facilities. The Aston room lovely bathroom but let down by no hand held shower hose just the power down one you need to take a shower cap if you do not need to wash your hair everyday. Comfortable bed but too hot as a winter filled duvet was on the bed. Bedroom fan was supplied which helped. Internet was of good signal but the TV reception hit and miss early evening. Hotel is in a lovely village but no shop to nip to."
