"We went to the family on a birthday. this restaurant is good for large tables because there are several rooms available. the rates are correct, there is space and a small outdoor courtyard that allows to take the air or children to get a little out. You can therefore easily organize an event with about 20 or more people without too breaking your wallet (count about 37€/person drinks included for a 3-course menu). the restaurant even accepts that we bring its own bottles of champagne. a slice of homemade paste is offered before the entrance. it is also on sale in detail. The paste is what the restaurant does best. the gambas in the entrance were rubbery, hard to see. drowned in a sauce. the dish was a sole with the fatty liver bursts. when the boss served us the dish, not seeing the fat liver fragments, a person from our table asked where they were. the boss replied that the person had to be mistaken “from the foie gras with the sole, this is not done”. When we cut, which looked like a peacock of sole (I who loves this fish, I hated this dish, I couldn’t find the taste of the sole), the foie gras was inside! So the boss doesn’t know what we’re serving in his apparently restaurant... but he was right about one point: the foie gras/sole mixture is infect. those who chose this dish did not finish it and my niece was even sick. in dessert it was a strawberry, eatable but with lots of whipped to make volume. conclusion: if you are looking for a cheap restaurant with eatable dishes and your main goal is to bring together a maximum of close then this restaurant is for you. If you booked a day organized by bus with guided tour and this restaurant is just a stop for lunch break, then it’s perfect as well. However, if you are looking for a restaurant to eat well then pass your way."

"We enjoyed our meal at Cornet d'or very much. The hostess could not speak any English, but made us very welcome and we managed to communicate with our somewhat basic command of the French language. It could be a bit of a struggle if you visit the restaurant with no French language skills at all! We ordered from the 23 Euro menu- (for two courses if I remember correctly) so not expensive. There is an excellent wine list (a huge book)!, and our aperitif was lovely. The little tart made with a local cheese, as a starter was delicious- simple but with a lovely flavour and excellent pastry. One of us started with Nem a sort of crispy pancake with spices and pork, which was , we think, a Thai/Vietnamese dish. It was also very good. Two of us had salmon with a creamy risotto containing little pieces of smoked salmon and confit tomatoes. This was beautifully cooked and full of flavour- again, excellent. The sausage served with fondant potatoes was much appreciated and tasty. We were all very happy with our food, the Sancerre was beautiful and we didn't need dessert! The cusine isn't totally French, just well put together ingredients and very competently cooked. We were here for lunch and it was a very windy day in low season, so we were the only people in the restaurant, so it is probably quite a different experience when it is busy or the evening. The dining room was lovely, with a very homely feel, yet smart enough to feel special. It is not cheap, but is good value for the price as the cooking is of a good standard. The only small negative comment would be that the radio was a little irritating! Maybe just some quiet music from a CD or whatever would have been a bit nicer, and complete silence would have been worse!. But this didn't spoil our meal!We would return to Cornet d'or again quite happily, and would recommend it based on our visit. The little town is also lovely- and only about 40 minutes from Calais."
