"The first longer hike of 2015 should lead us to the mouth of Sinzig on the Rhine via the Ahrsteig from the source of the Ahr in Blankenheim in the Eifel. On Sunday we traveled over Cologne with Eifelzuckelbahn to Blankenheim or Blankenheim Wald. First impression after leaving: devastating! I've never seen such a neglected station in my whole life. In this respect, it can be quite good that after Blankenheim it is still a few kilometers. But as we wanted to hike, we started on Sunday afternoon. We had hired ourselves for the night at the Wanderverein Certified Hotel Kölner Hof. At 16:00 we arrived at the hotel and removed the touring backpacks. Time to explore Blankenheim and choose a restaurant for dinner. A look into the map of the Cologne court could not lead us to dine there. Some carving variations, lots of meat, a very petty-bourgeois and rustic map that will be presented to us. Well, to Blankenheim Ortskern. Our GG app proved to be unhelpful, as 2010 is not well maintained and seasoned with restaurants. I've corrected a few now and added it. On the way to the center of the city and the source we already have a restaurant that is not listed in the app: Brasserie an der Ahr. And a short look through the slices and into the hung-out map conjured us with a spring nap. From the list it has not yet been opened and viewed. At the Ahrquelle we found the Landlust, also a very nice little bistro. Unfortunately only open until 6 pm. With a coffee in the museum café of the Eifel Museum we decided by Brasserie an der Ahr. At 18:30 we entered the brasserie with anticipation. A very lovingly designed ambience received us. On the right side a counter with open kitchen behind it, opposite a long standing table along the wall and left hand 6 tables. Behind the corridor to the very well maintained toilets. We had previously asked for a table by phone and were kindly led to our table. The service provided us with a two-sided map and pointed to the daily dishes. We ordered a large bottle of water, a Cidre Brut for my wife and a glass of Ahr Blanc de Noir for me. The choice was made quickly and we ordered the following dishes: an onion soup and the baked sheep cheese on the oven before, spaghetti from the day card for my wife, the steakskewer from the solid card for me. All dishes could convince, my wife was very enthusiastic about the slightly sweet onion soup, also my baked sheep cheese was very satisfied. We also liked the main courts. The spaghetti with spinach and ricotta were delicious, fresh and seasonal. My spit on the point medium. All right. In addition, some glasses of the short wine card came and after an espresso we left happy and saturated the brasserie at the Ahr. We like to come back. Here some dedicated gastronomy work and make a solid kitchen without great ChiChi, which is also very appreciated by locals, as we could notice in the evening. A little over 70 EUR was a very reasonable PLV."
