"We organised a karaoke party for a group of 12 year old girls on Sunday afternoon 3 July and they absolutely loved it. It was the only place in town that did karaoke for kids and families. Our host Ivy made the karaoke room warm and inviting and for the girls it felt really authentic and special. There was plenty of food and drinks included in the price and all of it was delicious. The girls enjoyed singing their favourite songs, eating together and being looked after so well by Ivy and her team. Whilst the girls enjoyed their space we parents sat downstairs and enjoyed a tasty set menu box. I had the Gyosa with skewered veg and my husband the tempora which was hot and tasty. The cost per head for the party was good value for money and was very relaxed. Yes there was a 10% service charge which is pretty common now, and we were happy to pay it because we'd received such care and attention to everything. I'd recommend Obento for family, kids, parties it's a really fun way to share an experience together with good company and super tasty food. Thank you to everyone at Obento for making our party so amazing, the girls were raving about it !!!!! I've included a pic of the set up, this was before I added some party banners, balloons. There is a sunken table lit from beneath which looks great"

"Absolutely diabolical. The Waiter was unfriendly. The food arrived. Although the sauces were good and the onion bhaji, the meat was horrible. The Lamb was dry as a bone and chewy. The Chicken, which I didn 't think you could get wrong, was chewy and grisly. They clearly buy the cheapest cuts of meat and scrimp on all costs. They have no pride in the food. We have been served watered down Kingfisher before. They have decorated and the place looks lovely, but the cheap meat is horrible. The Waiter asked us how our food was and then stood there looking confused when we said it wasn 't nice. Eventually he got the Manager who said they could make a new curry, but we said: 'with the same cuts of meat it won 't be any different. ' She said we 'll give you some money off. They gave us exactly £2.35 off each meal! No pride, no care. They clearly only care about profit. There were 2 other diners who also said they had a really bad curry, meat was chewy and horrible. We enjoy a good curry and this wasn 't one of them! To add insult to injury we got home and both have upset stomachs! This is our local curry house, but we will NEVER go again!"

"excellent. avocado brunch and veggie order breakfast. specifically asked whether poached ei in avocado brunch to be soft. when the court arrived, that was as hard as nails! we complained and within 5 minutes we got another teller with a soft posing egg."

"I have been frequenting the Grupo Lounge for many years, in fact I used to go there when it was a Blockbuster! What always appealed was the relaxed atmosphere and the quality staff that up until covid really were excellent! Sadly these days it seems to be a shadow of its former self! They have kept the same licensing hours but I can only assume they only pay staff till 11 these days because when it comes to closing they are (frankly) very rude! I 'm sorry to say but as a regular you can tell there are problems as you never see the same bar staff twice which frankly is very telling! Tonight for example I have ordered a drink when the bar shut at 11 'o clock then by 11:10 have had a member of staff tell me that I have to walk home with my pint in a plastic cup?! It wouldn 't be so bad but in doing so he told me it was because of 'their license ' clearly showing a complete lack of knowledge as all their license says is about when they can sell drinks until! Here 's an idea, if you want people to leave by 11:10 maybe don 't sell them a full pint right up until 11pm?! All I read about pubs online is woeful tails about how pubs are going out of business, well guess what this is why! Make a choice, either close early (10:45pm) and don 't make it about the money or accept that people need time to drink a pint of alcohol and serve till 11pm with kicking out being 11:30 (which it always had been for years before)! It wouldn 't have been so bad but some random new starter on the bar then said we were being rude for (calmly) pointing out their misunderstanding around licensing laws! As a local this was always one of my favourite bars but as a local I can safely say that if they don 't sort out their customer service they will no longer have any customers to rudely kick out!"

"We were looking for something different from the usual chain hotel breakfast and stumbled upon this gem. The diverse fusion menu exceeded our expectations. The service was friendly and attentive without being overbearing. The food was delicious with bold flavors, and the tea was served in a pot. We will definitely be returning in the future and look forward to trying out their other dishes."

"We had a great time at Iguanas on Sunday evening. The atmosphere was great and the cocktails were delicious. "Totally dysfunctional, we went there, ordered food came out wrong, rather than resolving, the waitress started stating its not her fault as she didn't take the order. This is 1. Not the point and 2. You represent the establishment. We never implied that it was her fault, but after three attempts to bring out the wrong food, we had to step in firmly and were offered an immediate refund for the mistaken dish. This is OK, but for such a simple menu, not acceptable situation. Secondly, 20 mins to get a masala Chai. Until we chased, no one was dealing with the order. It was ready to go. We were there for almost 2 hours for a fast lunch. Not visiting again."

"Abysmal service from staff who couldn’t care less about their customers. Arriving 1 ½ hours before the restaurant’s closing time , our order was taken and drinks and starters arrived soon after. So far so good. It was a quiet evening mid week so we expected our meal to arrive fairly promptly. But half an hour later there was no sign of our pizzas and we were now the only remaining customers in the restaurant. Patiently we sat and waited …and waited… completely ignored by the staff who were chatting and clearing the tables around us. Finally, I succeeded in catching the eye of a waiter to be assured that our pizzas were “just going into the oven”. When another ten minutes had passed with no sign of our pizzas I went over to the kitchen to discover that our pizzas had most definitely not gone into the oven because the “chefs” hadn’t even got round to preparing them. A whole hour eventually passed between our order being taken and our meal being served. To add insult to injury the pizza base on mine was cool and barely cooked. A one hour wait on a quiet night for much of the time we were the only diners is inexcusable. So too is the “couldn’t care less” attitude of the staff towards their customers. The reputation of Pizza Express has been built on serving food of dependable quality and prompt and attentive service . This branch of the chain is a notable exception by far the worst I’ve encountered when dining at numerous branches of Pizza Express over the last 40 years."

"I originally came to this restaurant just for a drink, but ended up staying for their express lunch special! For only £11, I got a main dish, a side, and a drink - such a great deal. I ended up spending the whole afternoon in their sunny outdoor garden and even participated in the evening quiz, which included a fun paper airplane contest."

"visited bristol for the weekend in the last minute and we did not come to hotel until 9.30 we have our things and went for a little hike, expected that a takeaway style have eat somewhere. san carlo went around 10 and inquired about the...off chance. lady in front of the house was welcoming and immediately accommodated us, although the restaurant was obviously busy. we were thrilled by our sound - we had both delicious appetizers and snacks. the food was presented beautifully, full of taste and good portion size. wein was beautiful and the staff, although obviously busy, were all attentive. we would have had dessert, but the service mail networks were slow (that was about 10:45 and the employees were cleansed around us and the others diner, so they might not want us to have any.) will definitely return if in the opposite!"

"This is the second time I’ve visited the Lido restaurant. The first time was better, with two main options for vegetarians on the menu (and what I had that time I enjoyed). This time there was only 1 a falafel mezze plate which in my opinion is very unimaginative in 2023, especially for a Michelin restaurant! Anyway as we were two vegetarians we ordered 1 mezze and asked if we could have a few side dishes as the other main so we could share everything. The staff were very accommodating and attentive. When the food came it looked well presented and I thought maybe I’d been too quick to judge the menu but unfortunately it didn’t live up to its looks in taste. Everything was just fine. The mezze plate was a deconstructed ‘Eat a pitta’ (if you are local you’ll know) and to be honest everything about £7.50 Eat a Pitta is better. The hispi cabbage with walnuts, burrata and potatoes (the sides we got) were all ok. Under seasoned. Bristol is full of vegetarians and vegans (there wasn’t anything vegan on the menu except maybe 2 of the sides) whilst we were there we didn’t see ANYONE order anything BUT the mezze so I don’t know why this is so overlooked in the menu. The cocktails, wine and service was 5 star and I highly recommend the Lido swim but you may leave disappointed if you choose to dine."

"Had an absolutely excellent bottomless brunch here on Saturday. We sat outside and enjoyed two hours of endless prosecco with a two course brunch. All the food was excellent, good portions and very tasty. We stayed on after our two hours finished and tasted the cocktails, which were also very well made and with plenty of variety. Our server Anne Marie was exceptional. She kept our glasses topped up, but also left the bottle nearby so we could help ourselves if she wasn't around. She was attentive, friendly and professional even ensuring to get the canopy out just before it started raining and away again so we could enjoy the sun. Will absolutely be going here again!"

"The food is very good but I would say overall this restaurant is quite overpriced. The lunch menu seems like a good deal beforehand, but then the drinks are quite expensive £6.60 for a can cider) and a 12.50% is added to the final bill as service charge, which was not disclosed before handling out the bill and I ended up paying without realising. I am not sure why I have to pay 12.50% extra for having the food delivered to the table, when the waiter did not even check if everything was ok afterwards. I would think this is basic service and would not have to pay extra for it. To sum up, even I really enjoy the food and atmosphere, I would not be coming back, it all felt like a rip-off and the service was not great."

"Date Night Done Right: Amore in Every Bite! This Sardinian gem stole our hearts (and maybe a little extra space in our stomachs)! I need to admit food is just heavenly delicious just as unique. Me and my partner especially loved the ravioli, filled with pumpkin and bathed in a leek sous that melted our hearts like a summer afternoon sun. Leek and pumpkin? Who knew? This Nonna is a genius! Just be warned, the portions are so big, you might need to share... :D Beyond the food, the restaurant itself was a delight. The cosy ambiance and tasteful decor created a perfect setting for a romantic evening. The staff was friendly as famiglia, always ready with a smile, attentive and accommodating, ensuring our every need was met. Whether you're celebrating a special occasion or simply looking for a delicious and enjoyable dining experience, definitely worth a visit. P.S. Just wanted to say thanks again for making birthday celebration so special and unforgettable. P.P.S. We'll definitely be back soon, and the tiramisu is on our list!!! <3"

"The Sunday lunch was enjoyable, but I was not a fan of the benches we were seated on, especially when trying to enjoy a three-course meal with elderly grandparents (we did request not to be seated on them). The food was delicious, but they had already run out of some starters, which was a bit disappointing given the limited choices. We waited a long time for our food, and our dessert was forgotten. Instead of apologizing, the staff simply blamed the busy day. The noise level inside made it difficult to have a conversation. Overall, I am unsure if I would return to this restaurant again anytime soon."

"My partner and I recently moved near here and we’ve been scoping out some fun new local spots the past few weeks..This place seemed to always be packed so we assumed something good was happening inside and decided to check it out for ourselves—and I’m so glad we did! Without a booking we managed to get a table on a Friday evening, which we weren’t completely expecting. Once sat our waitress Sai offered some amazing suggestions for starters; the spicy Thai beef salad (steak was seasoned incredibly well and the dressing is both delicious and truly spicy and the minced prawn/pork dumplings which were so good—will be reordering both. For entrees we had the BBQ duck with sticky rice and a prawn pad Thai which were delicious. If you go, we’ve also heard great things (and Sai confirmed this that the drunken noodle is very good and I’ll be looking to update this review as soon as I can confirm ; Overall our experience at Thai Garden was a fabulous one. Everyone inside was lovely, the staff and also the other customers…which is a weird thing to comment on I realize but you get a real sense being here that most people who come in are regulars and it makes the whole experience just a bit more warm. Can’t wait to go back"

"We couldn't find our reservation, so we were seated upstairs in a less desirable area. The air conditioning was on, making it drafty. However, the shared starter was delicious. Unfortunately, one of our meals was incorrect and took a long time to be corrected. By the time the dish was fixed, the rest of our party had almost finished their meals and the rice was cold. The dish itself was also not very warm. Despite being told it was safe to eat, it is common knowledge that dishes should be properly reheated. When we asked the waitress to remove the service charge, she seemed indignant. Luckily, the management intervened and removed the service charge as well as the price of the incorrect dish. This experience overshadowed what was supposed to be a nice birthday surprise. The name Lee may be meaningful in China, but not at the Mayflower. Overall, it was a terrible experience."

"Visited the Lamps on Xmas eve with friends, to be told they were closing at 9.30pm. This was a big shame as it was busy and we were there for the night, but had to leave at 9.20ish. Visited again after watching Bristol rugby and entered at 10.25 on a Friday night. There were only 4 other customers in there and basically the bar staff had decided to shut for the night, which I can understand except 4 customers had just walked in! Surely they could have served us one round of drinks? It doesn't bode well or encourage you to visit the pub.A lot of effort went into saving this pub after it had been shut down for years, its now been sold to St Austell brewery and not much effort is being made in welcoming the punters if it is slightly inconvenient for the staff. Lets hope you are still there in a year!"
