"We stopped in Cullompton on our way elsewhere so that we could have a leg stretch after a long journey. After a walk around the town we saw The Bakehouse and being dog friendly decided to pop in. Friendly service and great atmosphere we decided to have something to eat as well as a drink. An americano and a luxury hot chocolate, with the hot chocolate actually being hot unlike so many places where it is lukewarm and you end up finishing it two minutes later. This was creamy and a good helping of marshmallows! We then ordered a bakehouse toastie consisting of cheddar and mozzarella with hogs bottom tomato and red onion chutney. It was like a meal in itself and a very impressive and fresh side salad. We also ordered the crispy fried halloumi wrap with rocket, peppers, red onion and chilli sauce. Again, a large serving with great side salad. Both meals freshly made and piping hot, so chance for them to cool down a bit and enjoy the surroundings of the premises. A great place and one we will be sure to visit again next time we pass through. Oh whilst I am a Costa coffee fan, which is just on the opposite side of the road, I implore people to support The Bakehouse team where you get freshly prepared on-site food and drink at prices more competitive than you will get in any major chain coffee house."

"Stopped off for a bite to eat with friends, the lady who served us was very welcoming and looked after us, the food was lovely. I had prawn sandwich on brown bread which was delicious, it also came with salad, coldslaw and chips we sat outside as the weather was beautiful Price per person: £1–10 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"First time we have been here and hopefully won't be the last. The food was very very good, I had the slow cooked pork belly which I can say is easily the best I have ever had. My wife had the spinach and mushroom risotto which was excellent. We ate outside in one of the little cabins overlooking the valley which we thought were a great idea too. All in all, one of the best meals we have had and a thoroughly enjoyable evening, highly recommended. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 4"

"we came across this lovely pub while we tried to escape staus on the autobahn and what an unexpected tasty bite was in the load. very friendly staff, great atmosphere and delicious lunch. I had the vegetarian linguins and mean man the skallops. all top notch and it is worth getting out of the way for."

"For dessert, my husband enjoyed a sticky chocolate orange cake, while I had a salted caramel gateau (similar to a cake), both served with double cream and garnished with a strawberry. The staff were incredibly welcoming, and we will definitely be returning. We've dined out frequently, and I can honestly say that I haven't seen my husband enjoy a meal this much in a long time! I highly recommend this restaurant!"

"I never write a review as I always address face to face give you the opportunity to make good, but...One of the most vile tasting Chinese takeaways I have ordered. We had chicken satay which was a thick gelatinous bland tasteless sauce in my book not chicken satay at all , the crispy beef was again in a thick gelatinous vinergrey sauce the beef was tough and soggy as so much sauce and the Yung chow mein again bland and very cheap cuts of meat which reminded me of spam. I called them say I was unimpressed spoke to the owner who apologised and basically told me they have many happy customers and never had complaint about their food as they have always had same chef and cooked like this for years. If this was a restaurant I would have not eaten it and refused to pay. This was a Saturday night treat I will never make mistake again and in future avoid the China orchid in cullompton not that they cared anyway."

"First time trying Porters last night. Delivery was within 1 hour of ordering and when it arrived it was in paper bags that looked to add a bit of class to the delivery as opposed to most takeaway deliveries thats just a simple and basic carrier bagOn emptying the bags i was greeted with rather posh boxes, again another hit with me as most just send food in plastic cheap packaging that makes the food sweatThen it came to eating the food and WOW o WOW was i surprised. i do put myself down as a critic of food as i enjoy food and i stick with pretty much the same foods week in week out so when trying new places it is easy to judge and make a comparison as we all have to agree to having that one place you bench mark food againstMy Wife and I had a Ultimate Burger each and my 2 children (4 9) had the Chicken Bites and the burger was cooked perfectly for me (we are all different so this is my view and opinion not yours). It was 2 grilled 1/4 pounder burgers that were obviously high quality, with American Cheese good quality bacon. The Bun was also very soft and it was clear it was not just a cheap bun. My Wife and i ate it without complaint and even said before the end why have we waited this long and next weekend is sorted for dinner . Asking the children for their honest reviews they just showed an empty box (typical dad saving my Wife with the washing up)We also had some sides and OMG the battered Pigs n Blankets were to die for!!! Lightly fried and you know most takeaways either under cook or over cook the batter but this one was spot on. If i remember it is their own Cider Batter but it was beautiful. Onion rings, a few portions of different fries with toppings also went down a treatI also feel that the fries cannot go without a mention, you know most places either serve cheap and simple fries as thats usually a money maker and there is not much taste or flavour but the chips served were amazing. Again cooked perfectly, lightly salted and just an overall good tasteIt is a shame we didn 't eat in as they have a good selection of Ciders and Rums on the menu so next time it is definitely an eat in experience thats right an experience because i would not be all the way down here after writing this much if i did not enjoy the time spent eating the food from PortersWell done, you have brought something good to Cullompton and it is nice to have something different on top of the long and established food places we haveWell done to you all and my next review will follow a trip to eating in so i expect nothing below what i experienced this time"

"Fantastic country pub, Always met with smiles from polite, friendly bar staff and waiting staff. Delicious food, reasonably priced, with a great selection on the menu. Also good selection of different strength ales that seem always to be kept well. We like the variety of seating and tables, some a bit quirky, charming and fun. Can never decide which table we like most ! Log fire is most welcome on those chilly days. Can get particularly busy on Sunday lunchtimes, so worth booking a table (have found they answer the phone before the doors open on Sunday, so short notice bookings are made possible). Nice mix of clientele. We've never experienced any coarse behaviour or language. Easy to get to/find."
