"We chanced upon this very local bar brasserie on a rather overcast and dull October morning and had a coffee after buying some great local produce at the Friday market. We spied the menu of the Plat du Jour.....turned out to be a choice of 6 daily specials along with their regular Friday Moules Frites special ......we were impressed at the choices and reserved a table for lunch. Returning a couple of hours later we joined several table of locals and had an absolutely delicious meal.... and we are pretty critical diners so this was a great find for us. Nothing fancy just good hearty food, fresh ingredients, well prepared and delicious.....Our choices.... Started with a charcuterie plate .....ham, prosciutto, salami and an excellent pate, really excellent. Our choice for mains was sautéed turkey in a cream mushroom sauce, with a choice of pasta, rice, French fries or cauliflower gratin chose the cauliflower and the fries. The fries were near perfect, don't laugh, it's tragic how many restaurants screw up the humble chip.....these were first rate...piping hot, no residual oil, dry, crisp outside and fluffy inside and just lightly salted the turkey excellent but by now I could hardly finish it the portions being very generous. I would have posted pictures of the mains but we forgot as it looked so tasty we gobbled it up quickly! My wife had the fromage frais and I the homemade kiwi fruit tart which was just excellent..... The bill for all that.....just 13 euros a person....come on, that's outstanding value in anyone's language. We added a carafe of very quaffable house red and coffee. You won't find it in the Michelin food guides but as good honest fare goes it was right on the money...and not much of that either!"
