"I don’t ever write reviews but after last nights experience I have to! First off let me just name and shame SALVATORE! From the get go it was or should I say he was awful. We had a booking, arrived and he appeared to be inconvenienced by our arrival and rolled his eyes before showing us to a table. The table only had one chair (there was two of us) and then he left us standing by the table! We had to then go ask another table if their chair was free. We dismissed this as a minor error but now have come to realise this is just how this man operates! From then it took half an hour from our starter to arrive from ordering and service was also slow for the main. We then ordered the bill from our friend Salvatore, he barely acknowledged us (slight grunt often his chosen form of communication) and then he walked away to another waitress who was clearly rushed off her feet and pointed at our table. We then had the privilege of watching Salvatore do next to nothing for 25 minutes and then again when another table ordered he pointed at the poor waitress. After half an hour of waiting for the bill I again asked Salvatore for the bill, to which he raised his hands in the air, shrugged said “I don’t want to touch it” and again just walked off shaking his head. After 35 minutes of waiting my partner was forced to go over and ask for the bill. The question was directed at Salvatore however he was unresponsive and didn’t acknowledge and the waitress (apologies we didn’t get her name) who was very apologetic then sorted out our bill. We left 40 minutes after asking for the bill. We would absolutely NOT recommend coming here. Find another pizza express restaurant!"

"Nice place stop, let the kids have a play in the onsite playground and have a drink and some food. Usual pub food, very tasty, great desserts as well. Set in the Crews Hill garden centre, the surroundings are really pleasant. Outdoor and indoor seating. Car parking available. Staff are pleasant."

"We shared a calamari starter, which was a bit oily and had too many crumbs, with a strange plastic taste. The kids loved the mozzarella bites, but weren't too keen on the vegetable sticks. For our main courses, we ordered a margherita royale pizza, which had a tasty dough and was well-presented. My wife had penne with salmon, which was well-mixed and had plenty of flaky salmon pieces with a good level of spiciness. The kids had spaghetti and meatballs, which were large and delicious. For dessert, we had tiramisu, which was very tasty and beautifully presented. The standout dish of the night was definitely the pizza - it was worth raving about!"

"Popped in for a spot of lunch, myself, hubby son ordered the sandwiches from the menu, whilst my daughter ordered lasagna, grandkids ordered pizza. When the food came, we were very disappointed with the bread as it was regular sliced whereas another table had what looked like doorstop bread! The kids meals were clearly microwave Chicago town pizzas, and the lasagna that my daughter ordered didn’t arrive until we were all finished ready to leave. They ended up taking the cost off of the final hill as it took so long to arrive. Unfortunately this has put us off from visiting further."

"Nice, family gastro-pub. Loads of outdoor seating. They use quality ingredients, with top notch animal welfare standards! Farm to table not factory to freezer. It does get loud with kids on weekends but that's all cool if you have them. They have table service post-covid and good distancing. The five stars though is for our waitress... professional yet warm, attentive and so lovely. We wanted for nothing... even though we were sitting outside and out the way. She's the one with the perfect colourful nails."

"If you want to pay a 15% Service charge then visit this restaurant. It is important to note that this information is on their menu (but doesn’t stand out) and it wasn’t mentioned when we ordered. While discussing this point with the manager. It was clear that he had no interest in taking our viewpoint on board he actually suggested us having a takeaway instead next time! Such a shame that this very poor customer service has now lost them two customers. We have been here before (a few times) and never had this problem. I feel that in making a compulsory service charge is unreasonable especially at 15%. I’m sure this additional charge will make people think twice about spending their limited money on a nice evening meal. Such a shame that the manager didn’t seem to respect our opinion."

"One of the best pizzas we've ever had! We made a reservation for a Friday night but were initially told that the restaurant was fully booked. To our delight, we received a call just 10 minutes later letting us know they could accommodate us, and it turned out to be a fantastic decision! My wife is coeliac, so we opted for the gluten-free bases. They were freshly baked, and we could hardly tell they were gluten-free—truly remarkable! We tried the Magnolia and Tartufo pizzas, both of which were incredibly delicious. I highly recommend this charming Italian restaurant; they’ve nailed both their menu and atmosphere!"

"we were last Friday for a family dinner. Unfortunately there was a series of current cuts in the opposite, which broke out most of the nearby companies, but somehow the highland continued to wear! eating was nice and served with good humor from the personal under very difficult conditions. we even got a bottle of wine when we were gone! highly recommended for eating, service and value, but light at ambiente."

"The staff at this restaurant is very friendly and they offer several vegan options. However, I am disappointed that many of the vegan options are simply vegetarian dishes with ice cream and cheese removed, without anything added in their place, and with no price reduction. It would be better if the dishes were specifically made vegan on the menu, with the option to add eggs or cheese for an additional cost. They don't seem willing to make substitutions like replacing eggs with mushrooms. Despite this, the food is really delicious. One small issue is that they seem hesitant to accommodate special requests. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant. Updated from a previous review on December 3, 2021."

"If ever your in the Southgate area and you want a great cafe, come here. Myself and other work colleagues frequent this place if we feel like a really lovely treat for lunch. The cheese quater pouders and chips are amazing! Just as good and arguably better than Jennies or our old friend Whimpy. The jacket potatoes are cracking, with beautiful fresh salad, so cleanly presented. As so are the omelets. All the dishes I see other people eating also look so tasty. The staff are always so friendly and helpful. I've never been left waiting, which can be a problem on your lunch hour. A really fantastic place. Such clean well presented food."

"The Arnos Arms is generally a good pub. The venue and décor is nice, the staff are friendly polite and there is a decent drinks selection. It is quite pricey however – and the food can be hit and miss. We went for a Sunday roast recently with adults and children. The roast chicken served was very good. The roast beef was poor – very thin slices – generally not enjoyable. The veg on all dinners was average. We had to ask for more gravy, condiments etc. Another visit mid-week with family. Fish and Chip dinner was good. Those that had burgers were not happy – generally overcooked and dry. General opinion of other dishes was very average. We did mention variable quality to staff member when paying the bill – who was apologetic. Will still go to the Arnos for a drink – but for family meals will try other venues for a bit as the current food offer is no great draw. Food and service need to be improved in line with prices charged."

"Having been regulars for over years I was very disappointed with both the food and the service tonight.Firstly no bread brought with our starter. The lamachun was cold and hard.The grilled onion raw. Not given a choice of table. Only two of us, but the table next to us had so much attention and fresh btread twice maybe because there was of them. They ran out of beer!! gave my Husband the last small beer, but went to a local shop to buy large beers for the table of After minutes our dirty plates had not been moved. No one checked if our meal was Ok or asked us if we wanted fresh bread. No dessert offered and no Turkish teas too end our meal as is local Turkish custom. No discount offered after our comments to both staff and the owner.So after twice weekly visits for over years we will not be returning. Fore street is over run with Turkish restaurants there are plenty who would I am sure welcome our regular custom. Needs to improve its service instead of just being in it for the money!!"

Had a nice evening at the Tavern on the 25 August 2023 . from 21:18 till 22:25. I had notification of a perking fine from their car park. I like it very much because it has live music I would like to go there again but I don't want to have a parking ticket . "I went with 5 friends for our Christmas get together to Hunters where we had eaten previously and greatly enjoyed it. No one helped with our coats either on arrival or departure, which was one of the special 'old fashioned ' services that made Hunters so unique. However on this occasion, despite the restaurant being 2/3 empty, the service was very slow, the portions considerably smaller than previously and one of my friends commented that she felt the ingredients used were inferior. After we had finished the main course, we tried to get the attention of a waiter to ask for dessert. This took a while but eventually when a waiter came to our table, we asked for the sweet trolley, (which was a particular feature for Hunters , only to be informed that they no longer had this under the 'new management ', This is when we realised why the overall service and quality had dropped Louis has sold the restaurant (I had presumed when we didn 't see him that he had a well deserved night off! . Hunters is certainly not the restaurant it was and we will not be returning there. I understand George has retired and Louis has moved on to another venture if anyone knows where his new restaurant is, I would appreciate it if you could let us know."

"Visited with friends and family. We had Samosa chat, sev chat, fish moily, coconut rice, mysore masala dosa, ghee roast dosa, tatta idly and chicken momos. Portion sizes are good. Taste was amazing. The dosas were delicious as were the sambar and 3 types of chutney. The spice levels are bold. Every dish was scrumptious and each bite like a fireworks of flavours. Though my friend informed me that the fish moilee recipe was not authentic but it tasted great. There were so many dishes that I wished to try, need to visit again soon."
