"This is a tale of two contrasting visits during the course of our recent fortnight’s holiday in the area. On the Friday, at the end of our first week, we went to La Bergerie in the evening to celebrate our daughter’s birthday. It was a splendid evening lovely table with views across the countryside and excellent service only slightly spoilt by her request to have no dressing on her salad it was heavily dressed…. That said my oeufs starter was great as was my wife’s pork steak with spaghetti and my steak frites mains. My wife and I went the following week on 14 July, France’s National Day which might explain the difference. First there was was much less choice for the €38 Menu, I opted for the oeufs once again and my wife had the gravelax which, while it was a very generous portion had a very heavy dressing which was not to her taste. We both had the pork for our main course, we asked for frites and got sauté potatoes, ok not a serious error. However the belly of pork was very over cooked and the sauce it came with was not enough to overcome the dryness of the meat. The side salad was sodden with dressing and was a wilting mess. The tiramisu was not a tiramisu just a creamy mix. The Clafoutis was ok but was a little on the heavy side. Another plus was our demi carafe of nice white wine and, of course, the view. Our second visit was very disappointing, maybe it was because of the public holiday, maybe a stand in chef. The bill for our second visit came to €90 which we thought was not good value due to the quality of our main courses and deserts. So, if you go I hope you get them on a good night."

"everywhere with a pre-printed plastic menu means that they sound the same old eating year for year, and that is what they get here. all old dishes, gambas flakes, magret du canard, the usual salates, and a token italian gesture in milanese and...pasta dishes. and where it went wrong. penne and shame, for the same price as penne and bolognese should be rich with pesto, with freshly rubbed parmesan, pine nuts and mint it's a demolition. the milanese was in order when they ignore the fact that it was not spiced before the broth. Come on, that cheats and decrease the cents for a alcohol-free cocktail, that means that they do a double when they add cents? Of course not, euro for water, a limette and some minze leaves is an outright con. the wee was in order, but we had to buy a bottle, no half liter pitcher here, scandal, this is the best to eat in Provenienz, cheap wein. the carpacio salad was in order, and the deserts were perfect (although the so-called tiramisu was more depressing for its lack of alcohol, than his treats as picking me up'. once again I am depressed at the condition of the food in the Provence. there are so few good places, so many tourist torn joints that I only pidgeon hole don carmine as, and by the way, we live here and have done for years so that we know quite every restaurant in the region. so, boring, same menu, low quality and over price. avoid it unless they just want to feed."
