"Based on good reviews both on TripAdvisor and in the Michelin guide, we chose Auberge des Monts as our lunch stop on our trip along the landing beaches. It's just a drive from Arromanches, and allegedly much better than the touristy restaurants you'll find...there. We had made a reservation for adults and kids, including toddlers On the phone, this didn't seem to be a problem. Upon our arrival, the restaurant told us they only had one high chair. From the very first moment, we didn't really feel welcome there — although we were basically the only patrons there that afternoon. Our waiter didn't make any effort to make us feel at ease. When one of our two toddlers accidentally bumped into a table (didn't break anything), she gave us the angriest look. At the end of our lunch, we were told not to use the napkins on the kids, because they would get dirty — this blew our minds, as I assume and sincerely hope that they are washed after every use. The food itself was absolutely lovely. The restaurant offers menus from tot which are well worth their price. We had oysters, crusty camembert, hunter's chicken and various fish dishes, all of which were very tasty. The deserts were okay, although the panna cotta felt as if it had spent quite some days in the fridge. It's a pity the service was any friendlier. We left with mixed feelings, but would be willing to give this place another try on a next visit — without the kids."
