"As we walked past the restaurant we saw that they had a board saying FREE TAPAS with drinks. We were hungry and wanted something smallish so decided to go in. Not our first choice of place to eat, as the food wasn’t great the last time we visited, but we thought we’d give it a second chance. After choosing our food, my boyfriend wanted to know about the free tapas with drinks offer they had advertised. He asked one of the waitresses who was very polite. She went away to ask the manager. We didn’t go in for free food, we knew what we wanted to order, we were just enquiring about the offer. This is where things turned sour. An older lady who I presume is the manager, could have come over and said…”I understand you want to know about the free tapas offer..”…. However she didn’t. No, instead she very rudely and abruptly interrupted my conversation with my boyfriend with “I BELIEVE YOU’VE GOT A QUESTION?”… to my utter shock at her rudeness and arrogance, I said to my partner that he should answer as I was so angry at this woman’s attitude, bad tone and manner and lack of service. She then abruptly told him that if we wanted the free tapas it’s only one dish they offer and we only get that if was order just drinks. She then walked off to which we both sat there in amazement of how disgusting we had been spoken to. We were on the verge of just paying for the drinks and walking out but we didn’t we stayed and bought food, which was OK. The pork belly was dry and the accompanying bean stew it came with, was as if someone had dropped a whole carton of salt into it. The bread with oil and balsamic disappointing, as the condiments came in paper cups… not nice. So all in all, for mediocre food and a bad encounter with who seemed to be the manager, we definitely won’t be visiting again."

"Thank you for the hospitality that I received when I visited your Media City restaurant last Friday for a pre-theatre meal. Food and Menu The menu is small but it features all the popular British dishes that people crave. It caters for a range of diners including the Meat lover to the Vegetarian and also for Fish eaters too. It is simple and is easy to read. Each dish has a good description which gives you an insight of what to expect and if there are any sauces that come with it. In the Starters section there is Calamari, Sweet Potato Humous, Salt Pepper Onion Petals that are moorish, Crispy Mushrooms and Chicken Skewers to name a few. In the Mains section there are Pies, Fish and Chips, Steak and a range of Burgers including a Plant Based one for Vegetarians. If you have a sweet tooth then there is a White Chocolate and Hazelnut Mousse, Ice Cream and Sticky Toffee Pudding that is delicious with a Caramel sauce to name a few. Drinks There is a good drinks menu too. There is also a great selection of soft drinks and a few non-alcoholic Mocktails with great flavours to quench your thirst. They are a great addition to a meal. I had the Strawberry Mojito. It was refreshing, sweet and punchy. It went well with the meal. All the Starters were delicious and were beautifully presented. The Calamari was tasty. It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The Prawns were juicy, tender, and they melted in the mouth. They had a bit of a chilli heat in the background but it was not overpowering. They were nice to eat in that they did not have the shells on them so it was easy to eat. The Salt Pepper Onion Petals were full of flavour and were addictive to eat. The Chicken Skewer was good but it was not wow as it was like any skewer. It was not crispy on the outside and it did not have enough flavour. For the Mains the Breaded Chicken Burger was good and comforting to eat but it was quite salty which I did not expect. It was a soft burger bun with tasty Chicken that included Jerkins and Mayonnaise. This added flavour and texture to the Burger. The addition of Chunky Chips was heart-warming to eat. Crispy Potato on the outside that was fluffy on the inside with a sprinkling of salt. For Desserts the Sticky Toffee Pudding with Vanilla Ice Cream was heaven. Its presentation was superb. It was scrumptious and addictive to eat. The Sticky Toffee was so light and indulgent with some Caramel sauce. The Vanilla Ice Cream was a great addition as it cut through the Caramel flavour adding texture. Service The service was good. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, accommodating, and gave good recommendations on our food choices. The food came pretty quick. It was all freshly cooked and was presented to a great standard. Lighting and Access Usually the lighting at this restaurant is dim with a few lights. However during my current visit the lighting was better. We had a table with enough light. This makes your meal an enjoyable one within a relaxed atmosphere. In relation to accessing the restaurant there is a small step in order to enter the building and then there are stairs or a lift to get to the first floor in which it is situated on. Parking Parking is available at the Quayside Media City UK multi-storey car park (formerly The Lowry). If you are a Blue Badge holder then you get 4 hours free when stamping your ticket at the Outlet Mall. This takes effect from the time of arrival. Alternatively you can also park at the Media City multi-storey car park. Pricing The food is at the pricey end however it is worth it especially when it is tasty and presented to a fine dining standard. It is a treat and it is nice to come here during special occasions or once every few months. If you love food that is comforting, tasty and is presented nicely then head down to your local Botanist restaurant."
