"Had a wonderful lunch at Oaklands Hall. Entertainment was provided by the lovely Natalie Cuifo (aka Ain’t Misbehavin’ The meal was scrumptious and a cut above. Where else can you get Monkfish and Thai crab cakes, on a February Sunday in Hyde? The meal was finished off with a super delicious lemon cheesecake, cheese and biscuits and coffee. We were well looked after with table service from the staff who I cannot praise too highly and led by Liv, front of house . I don t know how they do it for the money . The venue is highly appointed and we were treated like Royalty. I asked for a table near the talented Natalie and we were given a “killer position” right at the front . We were presented with a rose too which together with the complimentary chocolates was a nice touch for Valentines. Ain t misbehavin’ performed three sets and had chosen what seemed like the sound track to our life. Her pitch perfect singing voice is a given these days but with her mesmerising dance moves Natalie tells a story. She is of part Italian heritage and she uses the shaping of her hands in her performance to enhance the lyrics drawing you into the storyline. Her natural beauty is enhanced by some very impressive dresses . As it was a Valentine’s event the theme was love but she mixed it up with some high energy interpretations of some classic favourites enchanting her audience who were in raptures by the third set. We ve seen Natalie three times now and each show has been an individual performance. She surprised us today with an enchanting Scottish ballad. We spent 3 hours over an excellent lunch and enjoyed ourselves immensely. We are so proud of Natalie and feel so lucky we can see her in our own neighbourhood. She has a growing following so if you get the chance to see and hear this young talent go for it. Her act will stay with you long time . Thank you Oaklands Hall for booking her for your excellent venue."

"We knew it would be busy at Lymefield garden centre as they were serving Christmas lunch. Two drop ins were just being turned away at the entrance with very long faces because they forgot to book. (Rookie mistake) our table was waiting for us and we were greeted by the smiling face of Gemma who served us. Now I believe good service is second only to the food in the enjoyment of a meal. Every detail was perfect and I know about these things. At times it seemed a long wait to place our order, ask for something or enquire about the menu but I only had to look up and she was there. It’s not like the staff were nt busy as there was a table of 23 they were looking after. Little touches like being asked what kind of glass we wanted with our drinks is something of a bygone age. You d have to dine at the Ritz to get better service. At one point she was busy with the long table and I thought uh! She’s took her eye off the ball but Yvonne her team mate turned up as if to read my mind with my bowl of steaming rice pudding with winter fruits. Perfect for the coldest day of the year so far. Team work makes the dream work at Lymefield. It was a dream there yesterday. It’s in the most glorious setting . Surrounded by frosted fields the view was like the Christmas cards I d written that morning. My final word must go to the shop. The produce is farm fresh and I am particularly satisfied with the local Alma Bridge honey I purchased . It’s the finest I ve tasted. The clientele are mostly of retirement age as you d expect in the middle of the working week. I don t consider myself old but I am old school and Lymefield is the perfect way to get the seasonal celebrations started."

"Drove 30 minutes to visit today as we had heard good things and the menu online looked good. On arrival the waitress listed around 5 dishes that was not available on the menu (this is a lot considering it’s not a huge menu). Luckily she didn’t say eggs Benedict was unavailable as this is what I travelled for, however this was not on the menu given to us, but eggs royale was, I don’t eat fish so I politely asked to swap the salmon for bacon (as other dishes had bacon on), I got a blunt ‘No’, which was very confusing so we questioned it and she said due to ‘ratios’ of food in the kitchen (considering they didn’t have half of the menu, out of good will they should have honoured the change to keep the custom). I asked for a few moments to decide what else I wanted to eat as the waitress was hovering over me and I felt under pressure. She went inside and told her colleagues that we had ‘upset’ her, all because we asked why we couldn’t swap, we wasn’t rude about it we just didn’t understand how a small change could not be made. Then another team member came over and quite rudely asked what we wanted, so again we asked her if we could swap the salmon for bacon, she also said no, so I asked if I could have it without the salmon and add bacon to which she also said no and followed with ‘the chef has created the dishes and he wants to make it as it is on the menu’ and I said ‘I don’t eat fish’ and she then responded with ‘you’s don’t have to eat here if yous don’t want it’. We said that the menu online says eggs Benedict and her response was that the person that does the website has been on holiday and been ill, didn’t really seem believable. Extremely poor customer service, as you can imagine at this point we were highly frustrated with the attitude, her tone of voice was also disgusting. She then said we upset her team member which again we was confused why it was so dramatic when we was not rude to her, we just asked a simple swap question. If it was an allergy or food intolerance would they not cater for this either? As that’s the dish the chef has created, sorry but he’s not invented eggs royale so no need for the drama. I don’t understand how if I order a dish, I am not allowed to have something removed if I don’t eat it?? I was willing to pay extra for the bacon as it’s an optional extra on the sandwiches so the ‘ratio’ wouldn’t be out of proportion, they’d of just had some extra salmon in the kitchen. We had enough of her attitude towards us so we got up and left without touching our drinks, she went inside and loudly called us weirdo’s to which I then got angry and shouted at her, she came back outside and started shouting with me infront of all the customers. Never have I encountered this sort of service from any restaurant, such a shame as the location is lovely, just no people skills in the slightest and the menu (that isn’t online) is whack anyway."

"Terrible experience, was seated and we ordered 2 pints budwieser only to be told there 's no draught beer only bottles £5.10 a bottle £10.20 a pint basically) so we had 1 bottle each after waiting 15 minutes to get said bottle. Lady and child next table was shouting to waiter When will our food be coming please ? I went on the £12.90 2 courses menu) I ordered garlic pizza bread and pepperoni pizza but was charged £3.00 and £12.40 respectively...mmmmhh supposed to be £12.90 !!! All in Garlic bread was solid and tasteless, never seen garlic at all. Pizza ...probably the worst I 've ever had and I 've buried a few in my time, no cheese , no moisture, no taste, I had to ask for parmesan to put a glimmer of cheese on it . Total rip off ! I actually left with a horrible taste in my mouth. Wife ordered lasagne was OK but had carrots in it ???? She was a head chef for one of Holts brewery mainstream pubs for 10 years...never seen carrots in lasagne? Overall it was a bad experience, wish I 'd never gone in and left feeling ripped off despite the bill being reasonable Someone needs to tell the 2nd chef to put their phone down too , people waiting for food !!! Never got asked if our meal was OK ? Never got asked if we wanted another drink even though I 'd drank my little bottle before the starter arrived. Bad experience all round , won 't be going again in a hurry Happy New year"
