"I usually try to eat local food when abroad, but every once in a while take a chance and eat at an American restaurant. Sometimes I regret it, but I was very pleasantly surprised by Sweet Home Alabama. I ordered a Barbecue Burger and Bacon...Cheese Fries. Ordering a hamburger in Spain is often a gamble. Beyond the liberal use of mayonaise, the meat many times just isn't beef. Pork, tofu and breadcrumbs are common ingredients in Spanish burgers. If you've eaten a burger or two here you know what I mean. You can tell by the color, even before you take the first bite. All this just to say that SWA served me a beef burger, which isn't something you can take for granted. But more than that, it was juicy, delicious and HUGE. I did have to ask for no mayonaise, and my request was met with a smile. Our waiter was very friendly, his English was so/so, but the menus are in English and Spanish so if you don't speak Spanish its not a problem. The translations are pretty good, but I did have to laugh at the hotdog lollipops Those would be the corndogs. The the Bacon Cheese Fries were also delicious, and abundant. In fact we were all so full afterwards that none of us could order dessert. I had wanted to try the pecan pie (Tarta Alabama), but that will have to wait till next time. Sweet Home Alabama is definitely kid friendly. There are special meals for kids for just €, and best of all, there is a huge inflatable slide just in front of the restaurant with a monitor so the kids can go outside and play while your waiting for your meal, and again after they finish eating. The decor is attractive, they've done a pretty good job at replicating the look and feel of an american diner, with the requisite black and white fotographs of things American. There is also a large outdoor seating area which is nice in the evenings (they only open for dinner, closed at lunch). Everything was very clean, and there was plenty of wait staff on hand to handle the full crowd that was there. You can't take that for granted in Spain."
