"If it wasn't raining we would have ate elsewhere. We were not disappointed, the food was average, if a little worse, than normal. I had the sirloin steak, my wife had a chicken burger. Both served on wooden platters, not a fan. Steak was not the best was cooked medium rare as requested, but just edible. Chips slightly underdone and average fare. Cherry tomatoes were sour, come on guys roasting them should bring out some sweetness. (buy some Piccolo ones) Glad we didn't have starter or desert. All done to a price. We don't have breakfasts anymore, Crowne plaza food used to be great. A race to mediocrity, what a shame. Staff pleasant and attentive, place clean and decorated in a nice modern fashion."

Took my husband for Afternoon Tea and it was just perfect. Got a wonderful table near the window, friendly staff and quiet. Will definitely return

The staff were exeptionally friendly and amazing with children from check in to the restaurant. Rooms so spacious and more than comfortable. You name it they had it for breakfast even a pancake making machine. Would highly recommend a stay here and it's not too far from Peppa Pig world. Exceptional value Ver carta

Bar food is overpriced for both quality and quantity. Deserts are tiny for £6.50 . Fish and chips is good batter is one of the best but so it should be at £13.50. Avoid the hot dog two sausages that have clearly been pre cooked and allowed to cool before being re heated and served, quite possibly left over from the breakfast service, Then smothered with far too much English mustard what happened to serving condiments in small quantity on the side of the plate?

Sit indoors or outside and enjoy the surrounding garden. The restaurant is a great accompaniment to the Crown Plaza hotel with the same friendly and attentive service. Nenu offers a good selection with something for everyone (including a separate pizza menu). Generous helpings without sacrificing any quality. perhaps could have offered more variety from one day to the next for the soup of the day . Also enjoyed some great breakfasts here during my stay at the hotel.

I visited this restaurant over the weekend and had a wonderful time. The restaurant is charming, located at the rear of the hotel, and is beautifully maintained and contemporary. The food overall was excellent, although I had some reservations about the bread basket starter. However, the main courses and desserts were definitely worth the price. The staff also deserve recognition for being very friendly and attentive. In conclusion, I enjoyed dining here and will definitely return in the future. Ver carta

After spending an hour or two searching online for a new dining option, we stumbled upon this restaurant and decided to try it out. We were impressed by the beautiful appearance of both the hotel and restaurant upon arrival. Although we had made a reservation, it appeared that they hadn't received it but they were still able to accommodate us. The menu, while not extensive, offered a variety of dishes that all sounded delicious, ranging from roast dinners to curry or pie and mash. The food was flavorful, the staff was very friendly and helpful - what more could you ask for? This might become our new go-to restaurant.

A group of six colleagues met for dinner at a nearly empty restaurant, but still had to wait an hour for a table. After finally being seated, it took almost another hour for their food to arrive, with the starters coming out in the wrong order and mains being served with errors. While their server, Max, was apologetic and helpful, the management did not intervene to address the issues. The bill also had mistakes. Overall, the lack of attention from management and staff left the group disappointed, and they do not plan on returning to this restaurant, despite their positive experiences with other Crowne Plaza locations.

"Our first visit. We cannot praise thank The Wellie highly enough. What a find! Peacefully rural on a quiet road to the south of Baughurst. A classic, pretty country pub, now converted to an excellent restaurant, with three rooms. What strikes you first is how immaculate The Wellie is, inside and out. The large garden is a delight. Masses of dahlias and all manner of bushes and plants. Birds, birds and more birds. Do check out the vegetable garden beyond the rear car park. You then walk inside to the warmest of relaxed welcomes from the owners, Simon and Jason, and manager, Sheila, and their lovely young helpers. Nothing is too much trouble. The first thing you’ll spot is the array of fruit, veg salad for sale by the pub bar – the Wellie Deli. Along with home made jams, chutneys, quiches, etc. I then spotted the two hand pumps! Longdog Golden Poacher Basingstoke Pride. The seating inside is for diners every session is a sell out! But I was very happy to sup several excellent pints of well kept draught Basingstoke Pride in the garden – until I discovered their Negronis! Truly the best this side of Kwant (Piccadilly). We’d opted for the room in the pub: the Apartment. Two rooms on the first floor, knocked through. Enormous comfy bed, large rainfall shower, sofa, mini bar – two TVs! Free milk homemade shortbread. One of the discoveries we made here is the fabulous tea they serve from Prince Sons. As you can tell by now, we were very happy with our first stay at The Wellie… and then we went down for dinner! A truly exceptional menu from Jason’s kitchen, which changes each evening. Highlights were the scallops wrapped in pancetta, the pollack, the lamb pot pie, the twice baked cheese souffle, the NY cheesecake, the rhubarb ice cream, the treacle tart... All so fresh, tasty, and mainly from their garden. What we loved most was it was relaxed but fine dining without the tiny portions. The Full English breakfast the next morning was equally tasty. All in all, we did not want to go home! Thank you Simon, Jason Sheila. We will be back, soon."
