"To clarify, when we were here in 2011, I took a picture of the mattoni street to chin, I put it on canvas and I hung it over my chimney. A braijade was on that picture. my opinion below is based on my blog of the day. When we planned our return trip to nice, patty had this idea that we should see if the restaurant on the photo above our coat was still there. It was and it turned out that it was a 4 1/2-star hot skewer restaurant serving a mentonnais style cuisine. On the day of booking, we took the nice to chin bus. After arriving at chin and a little high down, we found the place. While we were standing there, our photo came to life as a mother and her young girl came out of a door near the restaurant, went up on a scooter and left. Our photo had always been so immutable, but here it was in real life. Although it was not yet 14:00, we decided to enter early and sit down. Christian welcomed us and with his hesitant English and our hesitant French, we quickly developed an effective communication style, undoubtedly, helped by the wine and alcohol served with the meal. We were subjugated by the presentation, quality and flavors presented in each dish and the overall atmosphere of the restaurant. everything started with the aperitif, a tasty mixture of citrus, sugar and gambetta syrup accompanied by a dish of olives. beans and peppers, which we have tried to peel with toothpicks. She was followed by an entrance that seemed too satisfied to finish our meal. It consisted of a tapanade of heated olives with fresh baguette, a bouquet of salads of crudities and zucchini flowers, (so pretty that we didn't know if we had to look at it or eat it) and a plate with eggplant parmesan, polenta, socca, tarte with blettes and proscuitto on it with a small bowl of soup with pistou. each bite was an explosion of flavors. we had chosen mets and wines, so a glass of local rosé accompanied. to clean our palate between dishes, a small glass of condensed lemon sorbet cultivated and locally made was then served. intense, acidulated and delicious. in the kitchen, christian was busy preparing the main event, the torched pins (beef for me and lamb for pat). We were curious about this one, because they were coming out of a metal frame and were not yet on fire. He lit them at the table and we couldn't stop smiling. It could have been the wine this time, a red one. But wait, there's more. a plate of cooked vegetables and pasta was placed under each skewer. in addition to the meat, each skewer also included a curfew flower stuffed with chicken paste and piquant sausage slices. the oldest American music was played in the restaurant throughout our meal and at some point. , see you in September played one way or another, because it was our birthday meal. patty had looked at the restaurant's reflection in a door on the other side of the street and had taken a picture just when the door opened so that this gentleman could go out. dessert time, apple crêpe, ice cream and lemon mist locally grown. Did I mention it was accompanied by white wine? French do not serve as a coffee with dessert, but once we have finished, it quickly arrived. Just as we thought it was over, things started to degenerate. impressed by the photo of his restaurant above our coat and that it was our 40th anniversary, tiny glasses of liqueurs with vivid colors....basilic, mint cream, (clementine for pat) coffee cream is suddenly and frequently appeared... Then I saw christian sneaking behind, with another bottle, a large bottle on it... with a skull smiling. At that time, I knew we were in trouble. He poured the smallest shot of a very clear liquor in our glass. When we couldn't guess what it was, he told us that it was abasinthe and that it was 60% alcohol. Finally, we said goodbye and left to a baijade, smiling and smiling, knowing that we had been entitled to a real experience that few Canadians will live."

we booked a table via the restaurant web page and they had a table ready in time for us. We both took a three-course menu that was really good. the staff was also great, but they only speak French. It was our best chin restaurant experience. Ver carta

This was one of the best meals I’ve ever had. He prepared us a vegan starter and main (we were too full for dessert) and every bite was a gift. Even the salad was a unique and exciting experience. The kebabs were UNREAL. If you are in Menton, make stopping here a priority.

Would give this 5 stars if possible! It is a lovely little restaurant in Menton. All the food was delicious and on the vegan choice was on par with the non vegan food according to people in our party so we didn't feel like we were missing out on anything. The guy who runs it was amazing, he was a great laugh even though we didn't speak much of the same language and he gave us 4 shots of different homemade liqueurs ta the end of the meal, which were all fantastic. It's a small cosy place so probably worth booking in the peak season. Ver carta

We hiked all across town and all the way up the hill to this place carrying our one year old in her stroller. Showed up at 1pm sweaty and exhausted and hungry. A family of 5 slipped in the door right in front of us, and the owner seated them and then shook his finger at us and said “No, not possible.” There was no one else in the place. If you can only serve one family of 5 at a time, why even have a restaurant?? Why even have more than one table?? We were incredibly offended that he didn’t even apologize as we stood there with our toddler, totally shocked. Terrible customer service. Avoid the long uphill trek to this place or risk being turned away with no apology!

We went to dinner last night with friends. the service is at the top with the owner who is in small care with his hosts. The kitchen is excellent with quality products. The menu discovered sea or land at 34€ is perfect but you have to go empty belly because it is hearty. Small flats are the restaurant room, rustic style mentonnais, which would deserve a small refreshment. Having no windows except the entrance door, it is very hot, especially when the skewers are blown. And the chairs and benches are not very comfortable, hence a certain discomfort that could damage the quality of the meal.Despite this, this establishment is to be recommended.Nothing to see with most restaurants catch-to-tour...

"So I'm not a restaurant contributor although I'm a big fan of the good food and the pleasure of a good meal. I booked this restaurant because it's number 4 in the world's top 50. As you can imagine, I had great expectations. From the very beginning, the restaurant has not enough parking space compared to the number of tables so it was a break to park my car. No valet service either. the dining room has a beautiful view of chin but a very simple decoration and the chairs at the beginning were good but at the end of the meal I had a huge buttache, literally. the chef offers 3 types of menus. the smallest has 6 courses and starts at 110€. at the bottom of each menu, the chef offers the wines to drink with. I chose the smallest (110€) and the employee asked me if I wanted to follow the wine suggestion. I agreed, so it went with the meal. First of all, food wasn't that good. Very simple. Nothing we can expect from a 2 star restaurant michelin! the wines I knew are medium in any supermarket. The service was good but for twice they missed the silverware. At the end of the meal, one of the employees asked me if I wanted to try cheese before dessert. it is not included in the menu price, but no prices were said and nowhere you could read it. We ate a great small portion of cheese. two small pieces of cheese that a 4-year-old could eat in a minute to new york. Here's the check. 500€!!! cheese cost for two, 38€, the wine I hoped to be the wine suggested in my menu of 110€ and which had the price of 45€ was billed and served the wine of the most expensive menu (210€) to 90€ per person. Nobody asked us if we really wanted the most expensive wine list. It was really a disappointment. a waste of time and money because it was not a meal to remember even taken the price factor!"

"When in a tourist town, one always becomes suspicious of the quality of their restaurants! Da Mitchou is situated between the road and the beach, and it really is a gorgeous place to sit and enjoy the view! As usual we went out for dinner with a list of restaurant names with a good score from Tripadvisor. Some were empty, some closed, but Da Mitchoulooked very inviting. We were early for dinner, so asked if we could come in for a pre dinner drink. We were seated at the very last table available out on almost the side of the restaurant in front of the showers. We ordered our delicious favourite french drink, a Pastis on ice. They also brought us some complimentary pizza bread which was yummy. When we asked if we cluld atay for dinner, we were told we could stay at our 'bar' table, as the restaurant was full. In the meantime we had struck a conversation with Chris, one of their waiters whom had spent some time in Australia, and we started having fun with his memories! His English was perfect, and we were made to feel very welcome. We weren't terribly hungry, being on the road for ten weeks, constricts your eating habits somewhat, unless you wish to grow more than your clothes allow! So we both lrdered a salad with a serve of fries on the side, a glass of Cote du Rhône, and we were extremely happy! Chris continued to entertain us throughout our dinner, and we left feeling very content."

"the location was attractive. a small picturesque square slightly in draw with a foliage and Mediterranean charm. the restaurant had an outdoor terrace but we decided to eat inside. rustic decoration well maintained. abundance of natural stones and plaster walls of rustic color, nice vaulted type ceiling and terracotta tile floor. We loved him. the kitchen was visible on the path of the toilet and everything seemed chief, busy and good omen. Unfortunately, it's the end of the good news. My wife chose to start with the anchovies leaf and I am the raw ham. The anchovie was not good. Very strange flavor. Too salty. hard dough background. My ham was cut too thick, making the meal difficult. I had to ask for olive oil and gem salt. certainly not the best ham I've had. no comparison with parma or iberico. disappointing. the main dishes were the fish pot and the spaghetti with ceps. Both were a disaster. The fish were cut off. filled with small but important bones. the two rather sad gambas were small and boiled to death. the portion of fish and the quality at the price were bad. Maybe the bisque was swept. The pasta was not good and we left them. we paid 72 euros for this and a very small glass of medium wine and a bottle of flat water. I think chin food is usually not good. French are rather complacent and seem to believe that their historical reputation is enough. Not if. the area is very frequented by tourists and I guess most are unlikely to return to the area, so they think they can get away with it. It's a shame and I couldn't recommend this restaurant. we visit the family regularly to chin, so we would like to find a decent restaurant at a reasonable price. even our family seems to have a bad time. Why? It's the france."
