"When one morning the invitation came to a friend to go to the ahrberg, I was shocked. What am I supposed to do? I can't go to a fish restaurant if fish doesn't taste me at all? then it was done. we came, we immediately offered ourselves a place and asked politely what it can be. the friend of mine ordered a fat carp, I stabbed a little and the waitress then asked grinsent, if I prefer carving: of course I was completely relieved, and she then said that almost half the people who come here did not order a fish. now I had my carving, it was excellent. with great supplement on bratkartoffeln. I was very tired of it. the prizes are also really human. my friend was very excited with his fishing and could not complain."

I need to visit this place every time and eat their fresh fish when I visit hamburg, maybe 25 minutes drive from the city center, but they will never regret it, they need to book before they go

mainly domestic foods such as green cabbage, labskaus or stint (fish from the elbe) are excellent. they are sitting at an authentic place from the time when the home of the caprine and shipwreck was bare. also wine and beer perfectly fit to eat.

the view is very nice here and the restaurant beautifully decorated. the food was unfortunately in the average. the soft boiled as from the dosis with a dried solid surface. the fish was too long fried and very dry. the sose from the tetrapack. more than a beer they should not order there. we went on a coffee and give more than we expected, because the intention was so beautiful that they felt that they could touch the vessels. it was very quiet, although it is Saturday afternoon and other parts of the city were very crowded. we have enjoyed it and will definitely go again and again

great eating in excellent location with great view over the elbe. the interieur reminded me of a place where the time slowly passes, many bored to the walls, artistic pendant lamps made of cast iron, laced curtains. nothing was shown to fall into the eye, which was beautiful because it was really real. so was eating, good portions, good quality and a pleasant service.

After they are navigating the small restaurants down the river, they land on the terrace of this very typical German restaurants. relax with a tapped beer and browse through the fishy menu while waiting for the ships to pass on the way to the hamburg harbour or downstream to the sea. they all pass here and the deep water channel is a hundred meters away from their seat! while I was there, two monster container ships and a cruise ship passed. one of the best restaurant experiences I had for some time. a very authentic bright atmosphere. brilliant view over the river and the passing big ships, whether they sit on the terrace or inside. the menu is designed for fish that is very well prepared, while the dishes are not excessively demanding. fittingly, the personal is unusually friendly without being too formal. it feels like a family-run hotel. we had a really great time and I am sure that this restaurant is the most pleasant experience among the places in this neighbourhood. full 5 stars!

here in the barenese awaits us not only boiedermeier and a fantastic view of the wide elbe with packed frit, but also a hundred years tradition. they feel at the friendly, humorous service and eat in the fine. Here you can also trust the world classic wienerschnitzel and become delicious with local bratkartoffeln. also small for the appetit between work here best. and of course fish, fish, fish. the crab soup is well known, the red hat also. in the kuchen my tipp: apfel! so strongly recommended what is offered at the lower edge of the süllberg. the full bauch transports the mountain tiles souverän back to the S-Bahn station.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
