Sushi bar turned lounge. It reminds me of something you'd find on a small street back in the day in NYC. The food is decent and the service is friendly....

Tiny Japanese spot down the block from us. Of the 3 sushi places I've tried on Koeln, this was the best one. No frills, good food albeit at a higher price....

Fresh ingredients, yummy food, highly recommend! Not suitable for big groups due to limited space and on Fridays and weekend it would be a wise idea to make a reservation. Ver carta

The food is quite good and tastes very much like in Japan. The gyozas aren't amazing but good and the sushis are a little bit expensive. Otherwise the tempura was excellent.

Very good Japanese food!! Haven't had anything close to Japanese food since Japan and I was really happy to find this place passing by Köln. I recommend it, no questions asked.

It's a small, tidy restaurant with very helpful staff. There were three in our party and we sampled a wide range of the food on offer. Everything was just like we've eaten it in Japan, and completely delicious. Very impressed! Ver carta

Tiny but excellent place to eat Japanese food. Ordered a bunch of starters to share and then several plates for dinner. All tasted great. Service is very friendly and efficient. Will certainly return here when revisiting Cologne. The place is small so make sure to book a table.

If you are really into a traditonal and good japanese cuisine this place is really a worth visit but you usually need a reservation (even during the week!) as this place is quite tiny.Four of us were happy with our Sushi, Sashimi, Tempura, Bento with Beef Steak and Udon. Each appetizer, main course and dessert were great. I got the fried prawn , the Beef Bento in Teriyaki Sauce plus Sashimi and the Rice Cake.The service was fast and friendly. The price isnt low but reasonable for the food quality.

After living two years in Cologne and after all our visits during our holidays, Akira is certainly one of the best sushi restaurants we have been to. The menu is very varied, the drinks are also very good and the atmosphere is very enjoyable. The owners take great pride in their food and service and the quality is always consistent, no matter how many times you visit. I advise booking beforehand, as they seem to have very loyal customers, many tourists visiting and the restaurant is small. You will notice that there are always Japanese customers and that guarantees the quality and authenticity of their food. Cannot wait to go back! Ver carta
