I'm in Rome with my college choir on an international tour. After our performance today, some friends and I went here looking for some food close to our hotel. The moment we entered, the staff made us feel so welcome. The restaurant was clean and welcoming and we were seated right away. The menu was in Italian (we are all English speakers) but our server was so helpful, pointing out the English menu option and making sure we knew what we were getting. The prices were affordable and the food was wonderful. We each got an entrée, side and dessert, as well as water and wine for the table. I wish I could truly summarize in a few lines what a marvelous and unforgettable dinning experience my family and I had at Al Caravaggio. Suggested by an Italian friend, celebrating my birthday somewhere else would have been just not the same. Marco, its manager, was splendid! Patiently and passionately he unveiled the most exotic yet simple flavors of the Roman cuisine throughout 20+ different food plates and the best local wines. Truly a feast! The guy entertained us with the origin and history of every single bite we took. He was so authentic and fervent about it we could feel his words were proudly spoken by his heart.
