"Admittedly this was on a Fete de Pruneax night, so everywhere was busy. We had been to this restaurant before but I think it must have changed hands because previously there had been a special menu for the festival with prunes in every course, eg....foie gras stuffed with prunes, etc. So we saw Festival Special Menu and sat down. They were only serving a single course plus dessert and it was all Italian, no specials for the Festival. We ordered a carafe of rose wine, which came after we had requested it three times. We were one of the first people to sit down so the restaurant wasn't busy at this point. We then ordered veal escalope which came with spaghetti pomerdero. It took 45 minutes for us to be served. The food was simple and uninteresting, nothing to write home about. We then ordered coffee and it never came. We were watching the staff and it was utter chaos. It cost us 39 euros for the food and a carafe of wine. We have eaten much better pasta and much cheaper in Italy, with waiters who know how to care for their clents. The pizzas looked good and I think they should stick to serving them."

Great Italian restaurant tucked away in a side street. Very good portions, excellent steak and veal and the pasta dishes were very good. Welcoming service. Really deserves to be higher up the rankings for Agen. We would return.

three different parts of the family came together to lunch in the al dente on the recommendation of two of the party, the others who were not yet there were enthusiastic about the service and lunch with the choice made...for a very pleasant lunch time together in this secluded Italian restaurant, we will surely meet again when next in the opposite

We were in Agen for an overnight stay and needed to find somewhere to eat. Most places were closed but we came upon this restaurant which was very busy. They quickly put out extra tables and looked after us with very good attention. Their pizzas...were delicious. My wife had the Carbonara which was not very exciting but nonetheless quite good. We were happy with our dining experience. Well done

I took the family there on the basis of these reviews. Our waiter seemed inexperienced and a little out of his depth but we were in no hurry. We all got what we asked for and the pizzas we had were more than a match...for our appetites. They were clearly cooked in a wood burning oven, were thin and crispy with generous toppings. I think their signature pizza was the pick of the bunch and to top it all the olio picante was (as the waiter kindly indicated properly hot. I would definitely return if in Agen again.

two English couples at the beginning of the sixties. we have avoided this restaurant as we like to eat French when in france, but that was the only restaurant, except Italian, we found open on a bank holiday. we knew it had a good call and we were not disappointed. were large. the menu was varied, including the wood-fired pizza we didn't have but looked great). the quality of eating and cooking was very high, except the gloomy, the dissapointing. including drinking money, for eating and a lot of wine we have paid E180

this place sells as italian, but eating was nothing like anything authentic italian. a ravioli court was drenched in tomatensoße, the pasta completely invisible, in a wise they would never find in italia. a steak with beurre maître d’hôtel had easy. a few slices of screw butter from a pipe on it, nothing handcrafted or homemade. panna cotta could have been good, but a sweeter made sirup poured over. service was fast, but very joyful, they really felt that these people only phoned to earn a life (as many places, it is true). Stay away.

I know a lot of France closes for the holidays but we were taken aback by how many restaurants were closed for cong in towns in the tourist destination of the Lot-et-Garonne. so in Agen than anywhere else, actually. So we were pleasantly surprised...to find a well reviewed restaurant such as this one open. And we just made it in time, ten to eight in the evening and we got the last table. The food was served in large portions, even too large for our teenage growing son who can demolish most pizzas. But not this one. The pizzas got a 7/10 and the pastas a 6.5/10. Not exceptional but well cooked, tasty with well made sauces. All the meals had leftovers which suggests portion sizes are too larg...

My wife and another couple visted Agen on a Monday which for all those out there who are familiar with the joys of France is a decidedly dodgy day and it's a complete lottery what will be open and what will not. Over a glass...or two we selected 5 restaurants from TripAdvisor which seemed to fit the bill but after traipsing around town we found that none of our chosen few were open on Monday (or were closed for other reasons So what to do? Well, Al Dente was open and near our hotel so we decided that it would have to do. Three of us had pizza's which everyone said were great and I had tagliatelle and gambas which was really, really excellent. The prawns were huge and the portion was massive....
