Alazor - Menú

The Alazor, past the church, up the tiny hill, south of the river Rio Frio, is a delight. Typical Spanish fare at a reasonable price served by friendly staff. Our favourite restaurant locally.

Ayer tuvimos el menú del día con amigos. Disfrutamos de un menú de tres platos con una bebida por 11€ cada uno. Excelente relación calidad-precio y delicioso. El dueño Juan y el personal de este restaurante siempre te tratan como amigos.

Una vez más tuvimos un menú encantador del día. Teníamos una ensalada para empezar, seguida de trucha asada para mi esposa y filete de cerdo para mí mismo. Seguido por una selección de desiertos y una bebida por 11€ El personal es amable y atento y ansioso por complacer.

Aunque este restaurante está normalmente cerrado el miércoles, permanece abierto durante agosto. Mi esposa y yo teníamos medio kilo de chuletas de cordero, con una ensalada tropical de la casa. Fue delicioso y la noche fue especial por el personal amable y atento. Nos vamos al aeropuerto de Granada mañana y volver al Reino Unido el final de otro agradable viaje.

Estuve en Riofrío unos días y tuve que visitar este agradable restaurante para almorzar. Probé el menú del día, que estaba delicioso. El dueño y el personal de este restaurante siempre te tratan como si fueras de la familia y hacen todo lo posible por ti. Este pueblo es maravilloso para visitar, pero puede estar lleno los fines de semana, especialmente los domingos.

Just visited Riofrio again and once more visited Alazors restaurant. We had menu of the day, a 3 course lunch and a drink for 11€ per person. We both had the house salad to start and my wife had trout and I had pork fillet. Then you had a choice of deserts. Thoroughly enjoyed the meal and great value. Be wary that in the winter this restaurant closes on a Wednesday.

Had lunch recently at this restaurant-located slightly above town. There were four of us and two had Trucha Plancha which was grilled to perfection with garlic and parsley. Sadly the chips were the French fries variety, lacking life and texture. The other two in our party had Trucha with tomatoes which was excellent but had the same troubled chips. Sadly my choice of rice pudding was rather stodgy and lacked flavour and taste. Despite these set backs the staff and the actual trout itself was excellent

Thought we needed to mention this place for service and quality. Travelling from Seville to Granada, we 4 pulled in for a comfort break and a light lunch. We were unsure what to eat but, having ordered a drink, found that the modest looking triangle of local hard cheese on a slice of bread and bowl of olives that came with the drinks were delicious and served with a smile. We looked at the menu and decided to order the tortillas patatas. The plates were beautifully presented, with fresh salad ingredients and tasty warm bread. Great food and amazingly cheap at 5 Euros a head including drinks and coffee. What a find!

The Meson Alazor restaurant is not situated down at the bottom of the village like most of the others but is a short stroll up the road beside the river, past the trout pens (not the main village through road). This means it is peaceful, very few cars go by and the leafy exterior is very pleasant. You can eat in their attractive courtyard outside under their sunshades, which is what we did or in their air conditioned restaurant. Extensive menu and some scrumptious trout specialities which cost around 8 euros, amazing value. Friendly attententive staff and good service. Very spanish and as Rio Frio is always cool and shady even in high summer it is well worth a visit.
