Really great food like to be expected in germany. . . . The atmosfeer is really great too at a small riverside. The service good be better but they do there best ive noticed....

owner or chef was smoking in his doorway and was not pleased that we disturbed his break. After moving out of the way with a grumpy face he walked in behind us en threw his cigarette behind the counter. This is a the classic German pub you can find in most towns and cities. Not pretentious or geared to the tourist. Populated by locals as well as visitors enjoying good hospitality, good wholesome un-fussy food and traditional German beer at sensible prices served in a friendly manner - what more could you want

When we entered the restaurant the owner (?), without asking anything else, threw to our head that he had no coffee nor hot chocolate... He might have said, when I asked about it, that they only serve drinks alongside food. More polite and perhaps we would have stayed and would have had lunch! Now we just left.

Been there on a monday, Schnitzelday. The restaurant looks very fancy but The owner can be rude to his guests... First you think its funny until he's offending you... Ordered a Wiener Schnitzel, got a Mushroom sauce Schnitzel. The owner tries very hard to sell it as being your fault... Top tip number one: go a few Doors further to The Lütticher Hof. For The same price you even get a fine salad with your meal! Ver carta

Had lunch after a rainy walk in the hills around Monschau. The nice waitor cleared the best table for us at the corner windows. Our dog got a bowl of water when he served us two delicious "Zwickies". A local beer. We choose the two different trout. Ardenner and oven mediterrane. And had two extra beers. We got soupe and a large salad along with the main courses. The caramel/nut parfait for my fiancee and a Calvados for me finished the perfect meal off.

It's one of the best restaurants in the area. It's situated literally on the small river crossing Monschau and the view is more than picturesque. The waiter had always a smile on his face and did his best to ensure we enjoyed our meal on a Saturday afternoon. The schnitzels were really big, thick and juicy cooked to perfection. The same applies for the trout I had. The soup and a dessert were included in the price. Regarding the bill, the money we paid is considered more than reasonable. I can not really understand why this restaurant was not crowded. It's highly recommended and everytime I come back to Monschau it will be my choice for lunch or dinner.

I have been to this restaurant twice now on visits to Monschau and both times were perfect. Coming from Chicago, a great restaurant city, I have been to a wide range of places and enjoyed my experience here so much that I was excited to return. The menu is just the right size with items for all tastes but not overwhlmingly large. On this visit I started with cheese rolled in proscuitto with salad and it was just beautiful. The presentation was as good as the taste. The portion was generous and the dressing on the salad was in perfect balance with the richness of the cheese and meat.Next came the duck with red cabbage and dumpling.
