"It was my 60th birthday and I wanted a German dining experience in a more "local" atmosphere. I could not have ended up in a better place for dinner. We met "Herman the German". He has this huge smile and is a great representative of Rothenburg toward any visitors. The prices are very good. The food is more than you will be able to eat. I had the Bratwurst served on sauerkraut (wow ). I also had a glass (or 4) of the Riesling trokken (very dry), a white wine - Excellent!Once again, if you want the German food experience in a very German restaurant - and have a great meal, this is it!Wednesday's are Herman's routine evening to be there, although he happened to be there on a Thursday.Make a reservation! You can do that when you get to your hotel in Rothenburg.I hope this review has been helpful. If so, pls let me know.Safe traveling always,Bobby W"

Tucked away from the main tourists routes, this thoroughly charming restaurant offers not only good wine, but also excellent food and very friendly service. From fellow visitors of the restaurant, I heard that the hotel rooms are also very nice. Can only recommend very highly!

We ate dinner here in May, 2017. Loved our meals; I had Nurnberger wurst with rosti, and my wife had pork with mushroom gravy. The portions were huge and the tastes extraordinary! We would come back here any time! The atmosphere is very "old time Germanic" and the server was very friendly and kind. The value (and the wine) was excellent too! I give it a solid "A" Try it, you will love it!

We made reservations and when we got there, we were waited at the front door to be seated, but no one came to help us, so we decided to walk in directly (personally I feel a bit rude by doing so but I saw this is what other Germans do), finally they gave us a table. The food is excellent, we enjoyed every meal, from pork tender loin with creamy mushroom sauce, Argentina beef roast, to wurst, just a bit pity that they do not serve dessert. Overall we enjoyed our dinner very much and the price is really affordable, highly recommend to someone who wants to try out true German meals!

I'm so glad I arranged to visit the English Conversation Club on my first night in town. "Hermann the German" greeted me and acted as ambassador to the Club and the town. He presented me with a map and lovely magazine about the sights in Rothenburg odT. I spent a fun few hours speaking English with residents and tourists alike. I travel solo, so experiences like this are often a great way to intersperse some socializing with the solitude. When I told Hans, one of the residents, that I planned to cycle down by the river the next day, he offered to accompany me. Such a nice guy. He was my friendly guide for the entire day.Apart from the English Club, I can say the food and wine in the Weinstub...

"The owners of the hotel were so lovely and friendly. We stayed for one night including breakfast. The room was clean and warm as we went during heavy snow, shame there was no tea making facilities as it would have been nice being in the freezing cold. Beds were comfy enough and the room we had also had a bathtub. No TV in ours, although some rooms have depending which you get assigned. Great location. The bad part of our stay was unfortunately this unpleasant woman working during the breakfast who proceeded to shout at us. Breakfast was served until 10.30am and my partner and I arrived at 10am to be served breakfast and usually there is no real time limit to finish this. (The breakfast was very generous and delicious) Not once were we told the staff was expecting us to finish everything AT 10.30. This blonde woman with glasses then came out at 10.25, didn’t speak to us and simply stood at our table staring. She then walked away. She then came out AGAIN at 10.30 rudely shoving a paper saying 10.30 in my partner’s face (he speaks German) and then she proceeded to raise her voice and shout at us for not eating quick enough and how they’re supposed to get the restaurant ready when they had enough time. Checkout is at 11am so we left breakfast at 10.50 to quickly pack up and check out, and by the time we came down the table was cleared. So it took less than 10 mins to clear our table and it was clearly unnecessary to have this woman ruin our morning and our stay. If you do stay here and have breakfast either get ready to finish 5 rolls of bread, 2 cakes, a cheeseboard, selection of meats, eggs, cereal, tea and coffee before 10.30 or get ready to be yelled at. She needs to learn manners tbh."
