"CHAOS Despite making a reservation 5weeks ago we arrived for Christmas day lunch expecting to sit in the Green Bar restaurant as we did the last 5 years, but the entire place was in complete chaos that day. We had to wait at the lobby and were only allowed to move forward in a batch by batch mode. We were placed in a railway station like saloon which was so crowded with waiting and sitting guests that you could hardly walk between the tables. The noise level was horrendous... Absolutely unacceptable for the price level and i would also say for Sacher’s own brand or at least what they pretend to be. We complained at the staff and told them we would not lunch in the i think it was called “marble saloon” as it was simply a huge mess. All credit to the manager who got us into the green restaurant. Despite the great food, also waiters there were pretty stressed out and visible overloaded. The ambience of the green restaurant was very good and a complete different level than the marble saloon. But can’t understand what makes management believe to charge same price in both places despite the experience is so different... Anyhow despite the arrival was horrible, want to recognize the effort of the manager who found us a table. But not sure we will come back..."

Incredible atmosphere with150 year old paneling 20 foot ceilings sumptuous decor makes you feel transported back into another era.The service is flawless. The food is excellent and prepared with imagination. Fine Austrian wine is offered by the glass. The sommelier is great. I would recommend that he suggest pairings of the excellent local wines for each course
