We had lunch upstairs at Antidote which is right in the heart of a vibrant area. This was the best restaurant that I have been to in years. The food was sublime. The staff were knowledgable, courteous and friendly. Great ambience without being pretentious. If in London, Forget The Wolsey and the OXO Tower and go here.

We were going to the Palladium and needed to eat early and light before the Show. It is primarily a wine bar so the menu is quite limited if you wanted a full 3 course meal. The food was very good and we had the house red wine and it was very good. Had a nice French atmosphere and the staff were friendly and organised. Ver carta

in london with my man on the business and at the end of a long day we just wanted to sit somewhere a because to have a well-earned glass wein. that was just perfect. looked at the windowable that looks past the world with a beautiful glass red wine. we had eaten before, so not tried any of the food, but what we saw superb and we plan to go back soon to try it for ourselves. an absolute gem of an orte that offers a stunning weinlist, a great service and a perfect ambiente.

The first I heard of Antidote came from pictures posted on Twitter with photos giving a hint about the ownership. I’ll admit I guessed wrong who was behind it but a number of people identified the sourdough bread and the word slowly got out that Mikael Jonsson is behind the refurbished wine bar. Hedone ranks as one of my favourite London places but recently my trips have been at relatively short notice. I always try to reserve a table but have had no recent success. Antidote seemed like a good backup plan.

I'm always on the hunt for two things when choosing a restaurant in London. If it's not for a special occasion or random splurge then i always look for the underdog. That restaurant who goes relatively undiscovered and also one which represents great value for money. Antidote Wine Bar just off Carnaby Street ticks both boxes. I've been walking past this popular little restaurant for a couple of years now, always telling myself I'd pop in, but never did. Just as i decided to head down in February they'd closed for a refurbishment just my luck. But then i heard a rumour, and got a little excited.
