"I usually do not eat in hotel restaurants, but since it was my last night in hamburg and I had an early morning flight, I tried and could not have been more satisfied. I was offered a three-course menu for 35 euro and liked to be accepted. the appetizer I had was a delicious Caesar salad, then as a main dish I had a selection of fish with a sauce. as dessert I had the beer-complete with vanilla sauce. all dishes were aesthetic, generous, tasty and fulfilling. this was the best food I had on this trip, and I would like to recommend to anyone staying in the hotel ascendant or coming by to try it out. compliment to the chef."

as it was part of our hotel, we expected a standard dinner, but it was of high quality and tasty. we had a great steak.

we came without a reservation and immediately got a table that they held while we went to drink in the bar. the service of the waitress was first-class, fast and attentive.

a friendly staff welcomes them in a bar that is also an area. the selection of food is generous and not especially hamburgish, but very tasty. the bar staff also makes a fine hot kakao. Ver carta

a beautiful place in the hamburger inner city. I was here with my friend for dinner. we had regional food and some glasses of red wine. a very nice and attentive service, good food and a great time with my loved ones.

we have eaten here in the first night of our stay after a long day of work and travel. what they do not want is that the service is so slow that I could have done everything much faster myself. the food was good, but the staff was not. Ver carta

there we took our dinner. we were four and there was no table ready for us. then they just changed some tables and voila, we had a table for four people. the service was really in order, and our eating was excellent. one of us had risotto, washer and the last lamb, all very tasty and excellent prepared. the red wine, a barbera d’asti, was a very nice guide. a restaurant to recommend.

the restaurant in the hotel Steigberger hamburg was an surprise. we were very satisfied with the hotel itself and the bistro just sealed the deal. just the right place for a relaxed evening if you want to eat in the hotel yourself. Although the outside areas were closed as it was januar and it was ice cold, I can imagine that it would be full in summer. the best of the bistro is the warmth of the staff that really does everything to ensure that they get what they want. They still have a classic sweet dish cooked.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
