Fabulous food, excellent value and wonderfully fun host. We ate as a party of 6, 2 and 4 on different nights and could not fault a single dish. This is fine dining at a very reasonable price. A kaleidoscope of flavours. Our kids of 14

A real treat. Very friendly service and we were really surprised how nice the food was. Although there was no vegetarian option or menu for children, they were very accommodating, and everyone enjoyed their meal. We will definitely return.

The food was very well presented, but the steak was tough, the charcuterie was ordinary and we were more or less forced to choose the more expensive menu when all we wanted was an entrée and a dessert. We also had a VERY long wait for our dessert as the owner was more interested in chatting with people at another table. Ver carta

Absolutely wonderful food - full of flavour and beautifully presented. We had the lower-priced set menu but would certainly have tried the more expensive one if we had been able to stay longer. The trout was crisp on both sides - quite an achievement and the desserts had me reaching for my phone to photograph them - something I've never been inclined to do before.

A town dominated by a huge Chateau near the river bank. On the route of the camino with lots of walkers coming and going. This restaurant is beside the road and beautifully coloured with fresh plants. The only drawback is the closeness of the road. The meal of the day is the way to go at lunchtime. Beautiful starters and wonderful steaks for main courses. Homemade desserts to die for.

I was impressed. I was traveling with a largish group (25) and we had 2 wonderful dinners here. Unlike the other 5 hotels we stayed at, where the food and service were terrible, here the management rose to the occasion of serving a large group. The options, preparation and service were wonderful. They cared about the food and the people they served. That they did a good job for a big group is a true testament to the skill of the chef. The basic set menu is good value for money, and it is wonderful to sit on the terrace in the shade and eat while watching the world go by. The only problem is that, being a popular place, the terrace is very crowded so the tables are very, very close to each other.The desserts are excellent, but the waitresses rattle off a list of 10 or 12 items, and seem to be in too much of a rush to repeat the list or explain what they are. A small slate with the desserts written in chalk would be an enormous help to everybody

We ate here on a Saturday night. There were a mixture of guests from various other European countries as well as native French speakers. The hostess was very genial and showed us straight to our table which we had reserved on line. We picked the mid price menu @ 28 euros which was 4 courses, more than we really needed to eat, but there didn't seem to be an à la carte menu. The starter o e would have been sufficient: a generous plate of Aveyron cold meats. Thankfully our main: hampe de boeuf wasn't so big, but it was nice to have vegetables with it. We accidentally discovered this restaurant while we are looking for lunch near the river in Estaing. Sure. The food we had was one of our favorite foods of this year's vacation. So well we came back a few days later to taste the dishes we missed the first time. Service is very friendly. You must have your wits about you, as the owner comes out, weigh a big board with all day options, so you need the thought quickly: What was out there? A fabulous salmon panna cotta with cucumbers sorbet perfect in the 35C heat. A filled pork dish that has kept together only long enough to get to your table and then dissolved in the mouth.
