"My wife and I stopped here in mid September 2018 for a night while travelling south to our holiday destination. What a start to the holiday! We stayed in the hotel, but the restaurant is open to non residents. The restaurant is in a hotel which is a little way out of Mercuer (near Aubenas), up a hillside. It is not easy to find, ensure you know your directions before trying to get there. The meal was fantastic. After an interesting and very tasty amuse bouche, we went for the €39 menu, deux Plats, Fromage et Dessert. The lotte (monkfish) with Ravioles du Dauphiné was superb. I don't normally go for ravioli, but Ravioles du Dauphiné is a regional speciality consisting of two layers of pasta surrounding a filling of Comté or Emmental, cottage cheese, butter and parsley. With the firm and perfectly cooked monkfish it was a perfect combination. Second plat was chicken with écrevisses (crayfish), an interesting combination which was delicious. The cheeseboard was very extensive, as tends to be the case with good French restaurants; it held about 25 different cheeses, and a little less typically the portion size was generous. There were several desserts to choose from, my wife had the baked Alaska and I the chocolate sponge which had a rich chocolate sauce filling chocolate lovers delight! Lots of choices for wine by the glass (about €5 per glass), and extensive aperitif options. The hotel has plenty of private parking. To sum up, a visit to this lovely restaurant is well worth a detour or stopover on your trip. We certainly intend to visit again on future annual trips to France!"
