"It's always a culinary and cultural pleasure to come back to Gass 17! As soon as we are back in Switzerland, we are immediately drawn here! The dishes are divine, taste like they look, delicious, colorful, locally sourced and simply good!! Same as the ambience; The high table, from where you can watch the chef prepare something, is my favorite place and you can enjoy the warm fire right away! The best thing to do is reserve a spot online, especially when the sun is already peeking out a bit! "

"Ein besonderer Ausflug nach Appenzell stand heute auf dem Programm. Ein Höhepunkt war der Besuch im Restaurant Krone. Ein herrlicher Abend in einmaligem Ambiente. Wir durften eine Abend in dem feinen und sehr schönen Restaurant geniessen. Das Essen war äusserst lecker, der Service aufmerksam und geschmeidig. Rundum ein schöner Abend in der herzigen Stube des Hotel Appenzell. Herzlichen Dank."

"Sunday at 11:05 a.m. me and my companion come to the restaurant. At the reception we were bluntly told that it was still early to eat something. However, there is no indication of when the kitchen will open. The restaurant is empty, then We chose a table for two ourselves. The waitress pointed us to another seat for two right next door that wasn't reserved. However, there was no sign on the first table we chose. She asked if we wanted something to eat. When we answered the question with yes, she said it was still very early and asked if we wanted something to drink. We left the restaurant and said a friendly goodbye the boss didn't think this was important and was quiet. Fortunately, lack of decorum as a restaurateur is an absolute rarity in Switzerland. I find it strange that a restaurant that opens at 10:00 a.m. doesn't offer food until much later. The kitchen would be expected to be open from 11:00 a.m."

"Sehr gutes Essen und toller Service . Auf meine kleinen Sonderwünsche zwecks eines gemütlichen Geburtstagsessens zu zweit wurde gerne eingegangen. Danke für das feine Mittag bei euch. Gerne wieder . "Wir wurden sehr freundlich empfangen. Das Zimmer mit Bergblick ist wirklich schön renoviert. Auch die Lage ist super. Das Frühstücksbuffet ist sehr schlicht. Ein paar ausgewiesene regionale Produkte fehlen und es fehlt auch eine gewisse Kreativität und Liebe zum Detail. Ebenfalls das Essen (Halbpension war leider nicht wirklich liebevoll hergerichtet. Man kam sich als Gäste 2. Klasse vor. Auch der Service war nicht wirklich toll. Leere Teller blieben lang stehen und Wein wurde nicht nach geschenkt. Auch der Wunsch nach vegetarischen Essen wurde nicht wirklich Ernst genommen. Mehrmals wurde nachgefragt ob ich auch Fisch essen würde oder ob Rindsbullion auch geht und schlussendlich erhielt ich am 2. Abend ungefragt Fleisch als Hauptgang. Sehr schade. Ich empfehle á la carte zu essen und keine HP zu buchen. Der Preis ist doch zu günstig (34. für ein gutes Menü. Ein Saunagang lohnt sich. Die Sauna kann privat genutzt werden und ist wirklich erholsam."
