Banny's British Kitchen

have been there twice now and both times the fish and chips were way below standard. My fish was like a burnt offering and the chips were loaded with scraps, so wont be eating there anymore.

Food and service good BUT spotted slug trails by the kitchen door. Spoke to the manager who seemed indifferent to it...hopefully these slugs were not inside the kitchen as well...needs to be addressed urgently.

Banny’s has gone downhill this year. The fish and chips were tasteless (oh, but the fish batter tasted of ONION! . The chips were poor quality with many black bits, and the food was cold. We have given up to Banny’s. It used to be good, but not now. Ver carta

Nice waitstaff. Very mediocre, tasteless food. We had the fish and chips. The fish didn’t taste fresh, and the batter was too oily. The chips were oven chips that tasted as though they’d been double cooked or kept warm for too long. They were tough and barely edible. We got a refund on the chips. We won’t be returning here.

Takeaway today. Cheese and onion pie was a large slice of fresh, tasty pie. Chips crispy outside soft inside. Peas very nice. I am lactose intolerant and having discussed this with the staff Louise and Samar. Chef Alex was happy for freshly steam a fresh haddock for me. Result! Delicious too. We will definitely be here again soon.

We have a car club meet at Banny's every month and have been very happy, but the last couple of months the food has been really disappointing. The fish has become incredibly greasy and the chips are cold and chewy. A number of us felt bloated and unwell. This last time we were shocked at how much the prices have gone up. We had two fish and chips, salad, and two soft drinks that came to over £37. I don't know what's going on at Banny's but we aren't happy and we won't be returning. Ver carta

Every time I'm local (4 times a year) I always popped in at Banny's for my fish and chip dinner. I've been coming to Banny's ever since it opened. My last visit was AWFUL. I had to wait to order for over 20 minutes....I even called the phone number to get the waiters attention ! The food arrived (eventually) and my drink 10 minutes later !?!?! Fish batter greasy and not crispy, chips tasteless. Gravy thin and tasteless. A true tragedy, Banny's was always the best fish and chips in the north. The owners need to get back in control and get it back to basics before ALL your loyal fan base take their somewhere else. Come on Bannister and co, pull your fingers out......

Have enjoyed Banny's many times but yesterdays visit will be my last. The fish and chips were inedible, greasy, overcooked batter, wafer thin fish and chips like leftovers. All of these faults have been mentioned numerous times on T.A. but have obviously not been rectified, why ask for customer feedback and then ignore faults that have been raised time and time again. No wonder the once busy restaurant is loosing custom. I did speak to a lovely young lady who got a manager and the price of my meal was removed from the bill but sadly this does not rectify the sad decline in the restaurant. Customers vote with their feet and return custom is a necessity for a business to survive, Banny's manag...

We stopped here passing through for a meal. The entrance is lovely and we were greeted and sat down promptly. After a wait our order was taken and food arrived in good time but must say that the fish was totally tasteless and very oily, the mushy peas not so mushy, still formed pea shapes and tasteless. No brown sauce and £1.50 for 2 slices of bread. We finished our meals and sat waiting for the table to be cleared! Staff kept walking past setting up empty tables and sweeping the floor and nobody was actually coming to see if we needed anything else, even though there were only a couple of other tables in do not busy. In the end we called a waitress over and she asked ‘how can I help you’! Y... Ver carta
