"I had dinner and breakfast the next day in this dining room of the Imperial Hotel Tramontano. Like everything else about this property, it is grand. The view across the bay is stunning. The room itself is old world charming but still bright and airy. Everything id done right from greeting, to seating, to table settings...exactly as it should be at this level of dining. The staff, especially the maitre d' was well trained is deluxe service. I had a prix fixe menu which offered sufficient choices. I opted for a soup, baby octopus in tomato sauce, and a cannoli. The soup was excellent, the cannoli good, but the octopus was a disappointment. The next morning, breakfast was a buffet, with the usual suspects offered. There's nothing much to say. It was fine, and again, the service was superior. The wine list was the size of the Hong Kong phone book with hundreds of selections. Impressive but a bit intimidating. This should be a 5 star review, but the main course at dinner didn't make it. It might just have been a bad night for the fish chef. This shouldn't discourage you from trying this restaurant...but avoid the octopus in case that's the way they like to make it every time."
