Bon East - Carta

This has been my favourite Chinese restaurant for takeaway or for eating in around the Farnham area. It has changed hands in the last year and is now called Lucky Star. Some of the food remains good, however small things like the satay (too oily) and the inedible crispy seaweed mean it has slipped a little. Still better than the alternatives.

The food was exceptional but the sweet and sour sauce was so vinegary it was inedible and really liquidy, like water. They also don't give free prawn crackers, despite us spending nearly £60! But the chicken balls were absolutely amazing. The kung po was a bit light on the chili. We thought it was tasty, but not value for money. Won't go again

We’ve never had a worse Chinese takeaway ever, most of it went in the bin. Not cheap either, so I’m afraid that was the last time we will be going there. We did try a takeaway from there once before, they messed the order up and what they did send was awful. However, we put that down to a one off. I have been a loyal customer to Bon East for ten years. Ever since the new management have taken over it has gone downhill unfortunately. On NY’s eve we called at 6pm for a 7pm delivery. After being told that it was on its way I went to the restaurant at 9pm and it still wasn’t ready. It’s such a shame but this restaurant has really gone downhill and the management really must learn how to manage!

Inedible chicken. Having lived very close to Bon East Luck Star for the last 15 years, I have watched with sadness the decline of what was our favourite restaurant. Though we would give it another go after the horrendous experience we had when it changed name a couple of years ago. This was worse. Meat dished (all chicken) were inedible. Chicken was like rubber, same as it has been for the last 2 years. So very sad.

Thought we would give this restaurant another go as we had heard mixed reviews about it since its change of name to Lucky Star but it should be called Unlucky Star. I ordered fillet steak in teryaki sauce and my daughter ordered a green Thai chicken curry. My fillet steak was certainly not fillet steak had a very strange flavour and texture and her chicken was processed to the point it tasted like cardboard. I think a Heath check is needed on this establishment. Never again Ver carta

I was craving chinese food, and this place was near me so i decided to come in and try it. Immediately, the service was impeccable! Staff were lovely and our server was friendly young fella. The food was a little dry, but still had lots of flavour. The prices weren’t too bad and through the whole experience at this restaurant, the staff were extremely accommodating and pleasant to be around. I have heard bad things on this app about this restaurant however i had a wonderful experience.

Can’t believe we hadn’t been here before. We’ve been very disappointed in the Chinese restaurants in the area and this one is a little off the beaten track. Very welcoming, friendly staff. The decor is warm and inviting and very clean. The food is truly excellent, on a par with the very best in San Francisco’s and London’s China towns. Reasonable prices and large portions. What started out as a very boring weekday shopping trip turned into a lovely, leisurely lunch. Will definitely go again soon.

We were craving some good old traditional British Chinese food as we found in our home in America that American Chinese has a whole different set up localized menu traditions. We were missing things like sweetcorn chicken soup, crispy shredded beef, crispy seaweed (spring greens) and sizzle spicy scallops. From start to finish the service was excellent and food was the sort of great British Cantonese comfort food that hit the spot on a cold windy, rainy night in England. My only small criticism would be that the restaurant was a little cold the heat could have come up a couple of notches. But overall, this was a very nice surprise. Ver carta
