If you look outside and determine your expectations, sometimes you are surprised that in the end it is much better than expected. This is one of those places. Just honest at home made price-quality food coupled with cheap but good wine. Free parking on the streets and beautiful shaded terrace next to the church.

Here twice during the bike tours to Col de Braus and Col de Turini. Excellent service and very convenient to park the bikes next to the tables at the church square. Food serving stops about two o'clock on weekends, but this is no problem because you are free from the equally excellent terrace just on the hills from the square.

Here for lunch. Had a monstrous cheeseburger and my wife had the salad of the day. The salad was crisp and fresh with a variety of different ingredients and a great dressing. The Pommes were excellent (and I am Belgian, so I know). The hamburger was a bit undercooked (but then I did not specify how I wanted it), but the quality of the meat was so that it was still very tasty, so no complaints from me. So good location, fresh ingredients, generous portions and a good price, what more could you want.

The fries were excellent (and I'm Belgian so I know). We had a pleasant lunch at the Café de l 'Union in L 'Escarene. The food was simple but well prepared and quite nicely presented. Menu choices centre around steaks and salads. One of us had petit farcis which were pretty tasty. Service was just about acceptable without any danger of becoming warm or friendly! Everyone around us seemed to be smoking like it was going out of fashion (we were eating outside). Prices were quite reasonable. Note that the bill stipulated especes in other words, credit cards are not accepted.
