This restaurant in central Frankfurt is a perfect spot for people-watching while enjoying good food. The service was excellent, even at 8:00 pm on a Saturday evening when it was not too crowded. Some dishes have generous portions, so consider sharing. Just note that they stop selling beer at 10:00 pm, so make sure to order before then if you want another round.

This was our third consecutive visit to Café Hauptwache with our travel group. The food is consistently delicious and the prices are reasonable. This time, we were seated on the upper level in a calm atmosphere, although I did miss the lively ambiance of the main floor. The service upstairs was a bit slow, even by European standards, but it didn't bother us too much. I highly recommend this restaurant, and the surrounding area is perfect for strolling and sightseeing!

Let's just say it, I might expect too much, but it went right wrong with the seat assignment. I had specifically asked for a quiet corner place, and we got a table next to the exit door, highly frequented, and constantly pushed people against my chair from behind. Other table (although much free), misdisplay. They provide special reservations for these tables, and corner tables are only for 3 people. Operators were friendly, eating better than expected, but with constant cold air and people constantly stumbled into my chair, the whole experience was over. We left the restaurant after about an hour with all the other tables still free.

Service staff should get a training on how to behave properly. On the edge to stand and play with the phone while guests are waiting to order I personally find an unding. The portion is a joke!!! For say and write 5.80€ A slice of hand cheese with a few onions and three slices of bread is a groundless freak. These are prices that are not even justified for Frankfurt city centre.
