"My boyfriend and I visited Berlin last year and found Captn Schillow in one of the recommend places to visit leaflets. It was quite difficult to find as it is a little out of the way but once we got there it was amazing! When we arrived we were asked if we had made a reservation and when we replied no the waiter looked slightly concerned. We worried that there might have been no room and were about to leave when he called us back and began to rearrange tables just to fit us in! We also didn't speak any German when we visited (aside from the usual hello, please, thank you and goodbye) and when we got there we found that it was a very traditional German restaurant with only one waiter who spoke English and no English translated menu. Our waiter was absolutely fantastic! He brought us the specials board and talked us through what everything on the menu was, he also asked us what we would like to eat and then recommended dishes for us based on what we liked. We both had a traditional smoked fish dish with potatoes and it was lovely, amazing quality and value for money. It was a fantastic meal and the atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful, we were made to feel really welcome and the waiter was amazing!"

Visited here whilst en route to the Tiergarten. Service was very friendly and helpful and food and drink reasonably priced. We both had a large Pilsner, then I ate the Schweinsteak (pork steaks with rosemary potatoes) and my wife had a jacket potato filled with cream cheese and chives. Both meals were very enjoyable and set us up for the day, we paid 27 euros I think in total.

Awful place.Negatives- the place stinks (maybe due to the channel/river, not sure)- the tables are dirty and sticky- the waiters are really unprofessional- wrong dish was brought - apparently the waiters/workers care more to chat with each other, than doing their job- service/quality way overpriced ( i left over a sixty euros there and left hungry)Positives- none so farWould not recommend. We spent a nice Sunday afternoon here. We didn´t want to stay that long, but the service was rather slow. To make up with that we were treated to one beer and a glass of wine, which was a nice move. The restaurat ship is located on a rather quiet canal of the river Spree, so there isn´t as much water traffice to see as one would expect.Food was good, but there was only one vegetarian option (crepes with feta cheese), which was rather good, though.

We found this restaurant on a boat by chance when visiting Tiergarten. At first we thought it was empty and we were the only ones on there, but someone appeared shortly after! He was attentive and seemed to be the only person working, we got a mixture of cheeses, fish, egg, meats, bread and various other bits and pieces and it was all amazing. The setting was gorgeous and there was blankets draped on all the chairs as it was a little cold. Our lack of German wasn't a problem.

Found this restaurant by looking in a little leaflet found in the hotel. So quiet & I think popular with locals as a few in there when we went on a Friday night. The waiter was so helpful & advising what was on the menu as we didn't read German. We had a platter main course to share which included smoked salmon, olives salad etc was delicious! Then sea bass special main. Was fantastic & felt so lucky to find it!! Definitely recommend & certainly not over priced really reasonable! Ver carta

Not the easiest place to find - Capt Shillow is onboard a small coaster berthed close to the Charlottenburg Bridge and on the edge of the Tiergarten ( a five minute walk from the Tiergarten SBahn station). There are plenty of tables on deck we enjoyed a couple of drinks and an enjoyable meal over a couple of hours in the evening sun. Service is relaxed - no hurry here - the food was freshly cooked - herring and pasta dishes were good - the beer and wine cold and wet.It was very popular with local couples enjoying the peace and quiet - there is an large inside dining room for wet days. I really enjoyed this spot - Cost about 50E for two mains and a couple of glasses each.

We have been visiting Captn Schillow a couple of years ago for brunch. This time we decided to go for dinner on a lovely sunny friday evening, at around 7.30pm.The restaurant i located on a ship, moored next to the Berlin Tiergarten park. Very nicely located within the park with a bit of a view over the river/canal.There are quite a few of outdoor seats available, but as you can imagine, its was already pretty busy as the sun was shining. However even though we had no reservation, the waiter was very friendly and showed us rather hidden, nice spot on the deck.Service was excellent throughout the evening, we had a lot fun with the charming waiter. For our main course we ordered fish (Matjes)...
