"We took 2 grandchildren to lunch. The order was taken fairly quickly but the meal took a very long time to arrive. We waited for about 15 minutes for the table to be cleared after the main course, so we could order dessert. We gave up in the end and got the bill. It was impossible to attract their attention. I had to physically go up to the waitresses who were bunched together behind the bar after spending a great deal of time ignoring the other 3 tables. One woman loudly pleaded for her order to be taken. She also had waited an unreasonable length of time."

Staff prompt, friendly and efficient. Veganesca Spaghetti, no noticeable chilli, non-descript spaghetti. Swamping in oil was a poor substitute for good flavour. Our other main was forgettable apart from excessive oil and limited flavour. The name over the door definitely did not reflect the food served.

Carluccio's in Bury St. Edmunds is a chain restaurant, but the personal touch really sets it apart. The attentive staff and great service, along with consistently delicious dishes from the kitchen, make it an excellent dining option. While the decor may look a bit dated, the location, large picture windows, and deli full of tasty treats more than make up for it. With good value, delicious food, and great service, what more could you ask for?
