"We dropped in for a meal last Sunday night to break our journey. We had a lovely meals my husband had the steak special with mushroom sauce the chips were crunchy just as we like them and the steak was nicely cooked and great value . I had the fish pie and found it to be tasty dish. We had delightful service from Evie and Jade who were both friendly and professional. I left my jacket there and the staff went beyond to have it returned to me really fantastic service . Thank you Bills Newbury for a lovely meal and amazing customer service."

"Our experience at the Slug and Lettuce in Newbury, with Ethan as our server, was exceptional. He was attentive and charming, and made our bottomless brunch a memorable one. We will definitely return in the future, especially if we are lucky enough to have someone like him taking care of us. "This pub is our go-to spot for team lunches because it's a charming pub in a convenient location. There were 9 of us, so we pre-ordered our meals. Unfortunately, 2 of our group couldn't make it due to illness, so we made changes to our order via email in the morning without any issues. Everyone enjoyed their meals - good portion sizes, high-quality food, pleasant atmosphere, and friendly staff. The only suggestion we have is regarding the steak ciabatta; we didn't specify how we wanted the meat cooked, and we weren't asked either. One person ate it as it was served rather than speaking up to have it fixed. Despite this, it was a delightful lunch, and we will definitely be returning soon!"

"We came here on a Sunday afternoon for a Birthday dinner and was very disappointed. We have come here multiple times over the years and the service and food were always great. This time however was completely different. As soon as we arrived for our reservation we were met (eventually) by someone who I assume was the Manager, he went off to prepare our table and then did something else. We were left waiting in the entrance for nearly 10 minutes before someone else took us over. We were sat at the back of the place by ourselves and felt totally ignored the whole time. Probably because we had a baby and pushchair with us, whereas the table next to us that kept ordering wine got all the attention. The Manager was also joking with them about driving home which was not appropriate given how much they had all drank. We all ordered the rib eye steak as medium and all of us ended up with different cuts and variations of cooking. The rib eye was awful and none of us finished as it was fatty and full of gristle. We also asked 3 different people for water for the table and only when I stood up and found someone did we get any. When we were all done we were waiting for the bill which never came so we all got up and walked to the front counter. It should be pointed out that we could easily have walked out as most of the staff were sat around eating their dinner (one girl with her feet literally on the table). Unless this place gets much better service and food quality I would strongly suggest avoiding."

"I recently had a meal with my daughter at this restaurant she recommended, and we were pleasantly surprised. The menu was impressive, the service was excellent, the portions were huge, and it was great value for the price. It's rare to find a restaurant that checks all of these boxes."
