"Am very surprised by the positive comments on here. Our experience - walked in while passing and waited a long time to be acknowledged (not busy at all). Eventually someone came to us, put drinks menus in front of us and then disappeared. No-one then came back to us so we approached the bar to order - this didn't seem to go down well at all but we had waited a good 10-15 minutes. Were told the drinks were coming and they did (another 5 minutes later). They were uninspiring and bland. Given the time we had to wait we had plenty of opportunity to take in the tacky decoration, music that was too loud and the disinterested look of the staff. Very expensive as well. I would suggest this place is one to avoid...."

We had dinner here at Saturday evening after 8pm. It was a nice atmosphere and the food was simple but good.

Believe me when I say I know a good cocktail, - the best Cocktails I had at CIU Bar in Hamburg! There is not mich further to say, but as I have to type 100 characters to submit a review, again: Best Cocktails! :-)

My son that lives in Hamburg took me here. It's one of his fave spots! The mixologist made us a Basil Lime Smash beverage that was unreal! Fresh, tasty and wonderfully presented. The atmosphere I dim but not dark, classy and what a great crowd. I wish we would have had time to dine, we did not.He goes at least once a week to this place, good service , great decor and terrific drinks. A definite hit and I can't wait toGo back!!! Ver carta

This bar was very close to our hotel (Barcello) which was lucky for us, as it is on a great location, facing the lake, and serves a very large selection of drinks.I am a whisky drinker and I was extremely surprised at the wide choice available. My wife likes her wine and our friend cocktails and both were very pleased with the large selections. As mentioned the staff were very courteous and helpful and the overall cost was very reasonable.

Definitely a place to return again for a lazy weekend-cocktail. The place with THE atmosphere, the city vibe and the list of cocktails is so long that it would take more than a weekend to try out all of them, but more than this - the cocktails are 100% perfect. Despite the fact that it was a weekend and the bar was very busy, the service was very fast. I could imagine myself sitting outside on a Friday night, watching the busy city life passing buy and sipping my Ciu' mojito.NB! Table reservations are kept only until 09:00 PM.

"There's always a question (in my mind, anyway) as to Michelin's accuracy/usefulness outside of France. In the US, it's not very helpful at all and in Europe ex-France, I've found it hit and miss. Haerlin represented only my second stab at a two-star in Germany and the first meal (Heinz Winkler), while a thoroughly wonderful overall experience, felt like the second star might have been a stretch. Not so at Haerlin, this was a two-star meal that stands fork-to-fork with any I can remember. The food is stylized to within an inch of its life, but close to flawless in both conception and execution. Outside of a large selection of generally unremarkable breads and a luke-warm roasted onion broth added to an amuse at table side that probably should have been hotter, the meal was simply one perfect dish after another. Maybe the sorbet intermezzo was a little old school in such a fashion forward meal, but - hey - it was delicious! Keep it.The room is suitably formal, luxurious in a traditional style, and quite comfortable. The pace of service might be a little leisurely for some (I ate alone and the four-course menu (seven + courses, including amuses, etc) pushed it a bit, stretching just over three hours. However, the friendly and attentive staff kept an eye out the entire time and stopped by if the time between courses presented the opportunity. The somm, in particular, was a great diversion, visiting from time to time to discuss the varied and interesting wines on offer. He provided useful insight into the outstanding selection of trocken Rieslings on the list. He guided me to a 2001 Burklin-Wolf GG that, at Eu 150, was both a great bottle of mature white and a tremendous value for a wine of this quality in this type of restaurant. (Good luck finding a white burgundy of this quality at this price at any multi-star restaurant - or at retail, for that matter.) He also suggested a wonderful German Pinot Noir by the glass that worked perfectly with the meat course and wasn't terribly expensive. The list is extensive, but not the tome you see at some restaurants, but don't be fooled - wine service at Haerlin is both a major plus and represents notable value in the context of multi-star restaurants.I'm not going to argue two-star vs three-star because that distinction often seems to be kind of mysterious (and tangentially related to the food), but I will say that this place certainly deserves two stars. I had just a flat-out great meal. If you can work in a visit, Haerlin should be high on your list."
