Copper Fells Brasserie

Positives great bar selection, ok choice of foods (nothing too adventurous though), delicious food. Average service. Negatives an age to wait for all courses (over an hour for a salad, burger and two spag bols in a below half full restaurant), wrong bill presented at the end. Overall would not recommend.

The service was extremely poor and the food was not great. I don't plan on using this restaurant again. We waited nearly an hour for our food, with other people being served before us even though we arrived before them. Additionally, my husband's food wasn't cooked properly and had to be sent back, causing him to eat alone. This experience took place in December 2024.

Pizza night . No reservation needed . 9 of us were going for pizza night. We had already enquired about gluten free pizza and told to let them know on the day which we did to be told should have let them know earlier . Do they not cater for gluten free people all of the time. Unfortunately they have probably lost over £200 of income as we all decided not to leave a family member behind

Sunday lunch didn't look like much when it was served but it's presentation was deceptive, the roast beef was plentiful, tender and tasty and the jus (gravy) was superb. There were enough potatoes and vegetables to satisfy the average appetite but additional servings can be ordered if required. My wife had the roast chicken and was also suitably impressed. Starter was chicken wings in a barbeque sauce which turned out to be enough for two people. Choice of deserts was limited and as is all too common in British restaurants were overpriced, it would have been nice to have seen a cheeseboard on the desert menu but all in all a very pleasant Sunday afternoon lunch.

We stayed here for a break and visited here for a drink in the afternoon and later on our tea. The bar area has some nice sofa areas but the other tables feel canteen/haven Park like. The staff are lovely and welcoming. After visiting various places like Maryport and Cockermouth and Keswick..we paid close to £12 for a Pinot and a pint I expected big prices here....but cheapest we had found...being from Manchester we pay over the odds so pleasantly surprised. We ordered beef burger and fish and chips Again all the prices we had seen were round about £17 for a burger and £15 for fish and chips...here was £12 and really good! Fast service. Very clean restaurant and bar with a nice ambiance and well looked after toilets. We were a party of six and had a window seat with a pleasant view. The staff were friendly and helpful, just one minor issue with service in that one if the waiters kept leaning over one of our party to clear dishes which wasn’t ideal. The food was overall nice enough, though my nut roast was rock hard and either over or undercooked, however we did let them know and they were good enough to take this meal off the bill. During our long weekend stay at one of the lodges, we decided to visit this restaurant. The first time we went just for drinks and found the bar area to be lovely with comfortable seating and dog-friendly. On our second visit, we had made a reservation for food. Unfortunately, we were disappointed with the food this time, which was a change from when my mother had enjoyed a meal there the previous year. Was told it was essential to pre-book, called in and was advised they only had 1 space available and it had to be right at the time of the phone call, arrived and the place was empty and this did not change by the time we left. The menu was over priced , both food and drinks. Additionally, we ordered a thai red curry , but upon its arrival I had to ask if the correct curry arrived as upon appearance it looked nothing like a thai curry. There was a chick pea curry and a dahl on the menu and upon further tasting it could have been either of these options, but it certainly wasn 't remniscant of a thai curry in any way. We stayed at the park for a few nights and decided to eat here on the first evening to see how it was before deciding for the rest of the trip. The food is very 'ok ' nothing particularly special except it is presented very attractively. Prices are quite reasonable, and the drink selection is pretty good. One thing I cannot understand is the overuse of dried parsley which all of our chips were coated in, and I asked if the onion rings were homemade or frozen, I was told homemade and they definitely were not.
