PS: not able to answer your comment, I allow myself to do it here. There was indeed a table occupied by a 16 gentleman alone, not tonight. I guess your quota was reached. And there was at least 1 table of 2 free at the time I passed in addition to the other reserved tables. I had exactly the same problem the day before at one of your colleagues in a neighbouring town who had the honesty to tell me. I don't think that's normal, but apparently in high season, it seems that it's generalized."

"Perfect. The welcome is very warm and friendly and the dishes are homemade and delicious. The owner of this restaurant (who is also the cook) is charming and is keen to welcome and serve her customers well. We have rarely experienced such service and the prices remain very reasonable. We will come back. Also note the homemade jams which are remarkable. The banana one is exceptional...Thank you for this good time."

"We stopped at La Bascule for a drink, and decided to return for lunch after a walk around the harbour. The lady owner was lovely and so helpful. The menu is small, but very reasonably priced. We ordered our meal, but then became concerned as so many more people seemed to be eating at a nearby location. We did a quick check of TA, and La Bascule had better reviews. Our meal arrived, and was excellent and clearly home cooked. I had the lasagne which was delicious and home made, and a huge plate of salad. My husband had the fish cassoulet which he said was absolutely delicious. Also, real chips made from potatoes, not frozen fluff!! We had been in France for 12 days, this was our last meal before catching the ferry home, and not only was it the best meal, it was also the cheapest. Why there weren't more customers, I really don't know. It was fantastic!"

"we stayed in a week in Saint-Valéry and it was one of the best restaurants we went. the place is very beautiful, beautiful and peaceful. people are very nice people and they do their best. we came to diner and we took the 38€ menu. we hesitated between the two menus, but the meals are not similar. the starters were good ris de veau and foie gras, but no more than usual nothing special to say about it. my friend took some fish for the main meal and it was not fresh and not well cooked. really disappointed. from my side, I tried this and it was nice and well cooked. we also had the cheese on bread. it was good, but very heavy. this should be from the menu or not with starter. to close, this restaurant is one of the best places of Saint-Valéry-en-caux, but nothing special. it's good, but take care of fish. it is dissapointing so close to the sea and not to have some fresh fish and well cooked."
