"1,000% recommend!! I visited this charming, wonderful grotto with my family back in August, and it was one of the best restaurant experiences of our lives! The setting is just perfect warm and storybooklike. From the moment we arrived, Roberto was so welcoming. It was great talking with him! His wife Christina's food is absolutely divine. Every dish wowed us! I especially loved the apple gorgonzola risotto and the cheesecake. At the end of the meal, Roberto gave us samples of their limoncello which was such a fun conclusion to our amazing night. I highly reccomend Grotto Castagneto to anyone in the Lugano area!"

"We originally went to the place to takeaway pizza but ended up staying the evening. We had 3 pizzas and everything was amazing, one of our boys said it was the best pizza he ever had (Buffalo . "We only stayed one night but were impressed. The view is really beautiful at a more than fair price (100 chf for a double in June), some comforts are missing, such as the bathroom in the room (shared bathroom for 7 rooms), but at least for the blue room there was a sink and a private shower. There is a common room with fridge and coffee machine, breakfast is a basket with a large quantity of packaged snacks. Checkout is late, even until 11, so if you like to sleep late it's perfect. However, be careful about the transport to Lugano, unfortunately it runs too rarely. (even 2h) All the rooms have a lake view (I think they all also have a splendid small balcony). Inspired by the view and the particular menu (I underline particular) we decided to have lunch here, sharing a tasting menu (65 chf) and also trying the extra dishes (10 chf each). The food was truly delicious, with some risky but definitely interesting combinations. Obviously personal taste regarding the individual ingredients also plays its part. We were very sorry to see that two other customers did not want to try to appreciate the dishes, probably because they were expecting something more classic. Therefore, as the owners have already reiterated, take a look at the tasting menu to get an idea of what awaits you, it might simply not be for you. We were willing to try it, even if we weren't used to it, and we were very, very satisfied."

"Wir waren als Familie dort und haben sehr gut gegessen. Leider war die Location zu dieser Jahreszeit etwas zu kühl. Wir sassen am Anfang mit Jacken am Tisch. Der grosse Kamin wurde angefeuert und im Laufe des Abends war es dann ok, jedoch nie so warm, dass man hätte sagen können „gemütlich“ .... schade. Die Bedingung war sehr nett, servierte jedoch auch in Jacke. Ich würde im Sommer sicher noch einmal wieder kommen. Der Blick von der Weinreben bedeckten Terrasse, über den See nach Lugano, ist wunderschön."

"Um ehrlich zu sein, war das Essen der beste Teil des Gesamterlebnisses in diesem Restaurant. Ich bin mir jedoch nicht sicher, ob der Ort das Recht verdient, Restaurant genannt zu werden. Vielleicht hieß er zu Recht Taverne .Platz sieht innen nicht schön aus und liegt weit vom Stadtzentrum entfernt.Lassen Sie sich von der englischen Website nicht irreführen, da niemand zur Verfügung stand, der in Kürze seine napolitanische bis englische Speisekarte erläuterte oder nur Tagesgerichte empfahl.Die ältere Dame, die die Bestellungen entgegennahm, war stationär und nicht sehr höflich. Wurde unhöflich, als wir darum baten, das Geschirr zu wechseln, da es nicht sehr sauber aussah. Wir fühlten uns wie Fremde und nicht wie Gäste. Als wir unsere Wahl trafen, kam eine andere Person und ließ buchstäblich eine Papiertüte auf den Tisch fallen. Wir dachten aus Versehen, fanden aber nach einer Weile heraus, dass sich darin etwas Brot befindet. Wie seltsam das alles war. Die Bestellung dauerte eine Weile, aber wir haben es geschafft. Das Essen kam pünktlich, aber keine Überraschung, da wir nur wenige Gäste waren. Fleischgericht mit Kartoffeln und Salat bestellt. Kartoffeln kamen nicht und Salat war die Eisbergstücke mit nichts anderem. Da der Service unhöflich war, hatte ich Angst, das Thema Kartoffeln anzusprechen. Zum Glück wurde nicht dasselbe berechnet, obwohl die Rechnung insgesamt sehr salzig war. Vergleichbar mit 1 Street Tier Top Restaurants, in denen großartiger Service und gute italienische Küche geboten werden.Vielleicht konzentrieren sich die Orte nur auf Napolitaner, die ihre Heimat und ihr Essen aus ihrer Kindheit kennen, aber definitiv kann ich es weder Einheimischen, Touristen noch Geschäftsreisenden empfehlen."
