"they drive once in the year for 5 years as it is on our canal boat route. this trip was for lunch. eating is excellent and personal always good. the only critique is a very limited menu (which was not clear that it was a lunch menu) compared to previous visits and the only desert was a £3.00 tub ice. as I say eating is amazing and we were too full for the desert anyway. I just thought I'd show it. if you say that they have a huge (and beautiful) garden with a view of the river, which is amazing, so maybe this is the reason for a limited menu this time? at least it is a kind of 5 stars apart from the menu issue."

This is a fantastic pub to stop for a drink or a light lunch while strolling along the canal.

The restaurant has a beautiful setting, but if they mess up your order, you have to personally take the food back to the kitchen. Ver carta

I was pleasantly surprised by how delicious the burger was! After a long stroll along the canal, we enjoyed this burger several times. The restaurant is conveniently located by the river, offering a beautiful view.

we visited the pub when we drove past. we called first and said that the food was ready at 20:30, and it was 20:15 when we arranged. we came around 20:25 (I know! and we are great with a big smile and a really polite fellow worker! the food came fast and was really delicious. would recommend 10/10 a visit!

There was only one vegan option available at this restaurant, which was a burger. Despite this limitation, the burger was really delicious. I was disappointed that they served me regular coleslaw instead of a vegan option, especially considering that someone with a milk allergy could have been dining there. Overall, it was surprising to see a traditional pub offering vegan options, but there is room for improvement in terms of accommodating dietary restrictions. Ver carta

I wanted to like this place as it is located in a historic building near the canals, and the staff was very friendly. However, despite the description stating otherwise, there was only one vegan option available: a burger made with a processed patty. Fortunately, it was topped with sautéed mushrooms and delicious red jelly. Unfortunately, the patty was too tough to eat, so I ended up just eating the mushroom, jelly, salad, and fries. I left the restaurant feeling disappointed with the burger.

we had a jacket kartoffel with bohnen (they have celebrated bbq now) and a linsenburger. Although not the most adventurous menu, it was still really nice to sit in a small village and have vegan food. the burger with relish was really nice and both portions were really decent sizes! I would recommend if in the opposite and hopefully they will expand to have another option, although it is no massive menu anyway, so even these two are big the pub is in a really nice location at the river and that is a big selling point!

"We stayed here ten years ago and thought it was wonderful and worth every penny. We were so excited to return, but really Disapointed. The grounds are lovely and we were pleased with our room. The children loved the outdoor space and the pool What really let us down was the food and service. There was no luxury here. The family dining choices were poor. The children's meal was bad one had fish gougons and sweet potato fries which were very salty. The other two had pizza, the small was served as half a pizza, the large was a conventional round shape. Both were shop bought bases (cardboard) with grated Cheddar on the top. Something I would not feed them at home let alone expect in a supposedly high end dining. My husband's steak was chewy. My main, whole plaice with creamed potatoes, the potato was served in a ceramic dish and it was cold. It was taken away and then took ten minutes to return by which point I had eaten the fish. The food was incredibly expensive considering how poor the offerings were. The next day we ate a very late lunch in Bath so we would not have to eat at the hotel. The breakfast buffet area had some nice items but was really understocked and allowed to run to empty. The staff functioned but not at a steady rate, we found the service slow and the staff disinterested. Such a contrast to our previous visit. The person in charge we found sullen and felt as if our presence was an inconvenience. When we walked through to the dining areas we would hop out of the staff'so way for fear of being bulldozed. When we left the receptionist was polite but did not ask if we enjoyed our stay. A week later I had an email to complete a survey and nobody got in touch despite the same feedback as given here. Very dispointing. Lovely room and surroundings but poor food and poor attitude from staff. Last year we stayed in a hotel that cost 65% less than Wooley Grange and had a much better experience."
