"I have never been to Indonesia, but have eaten in Indonesian restaurants in London, Amsterdam and Berlin. So far as I can judge, this is authentic Indonesian food, prepared with care and attention to detail by the Indonesian wife of the landlord. Indonesian cuisine is VERY different from Thai, Indian or Chinese, with which we have become familiar in Western Europe. It is full of flavour, but different flavours from those of the other Asian foods to which we are used. The three of us deliberately made different choices so that we could sample a wide range of dishes. Of the eight that we chose, we gave a unanimous and enthusiastic thumbs up to seven of them. Our starters were Satay Lilit (minced pork with coconut and herbs grilled on a skewer); Udang goreng tepung (prawns in a light tempura batter with coriander and chilli dip); and Gado Gado (blanched vegetables and bean sprouts with peanut sauce and tofu). The first two were both delicious, but we wouldn 't order the last of the three again. Our main courses were Babi Tinoranuk (sliced pork with chilli, lime and lemongrass); and Chicken Satay (with peanut sauce, pickled cucumber, soya sauce and hot chilli). Both voted as excellent. They all came with basmati rice. Our desserts were Es Sedoteng (palm fruit, jack fruit and cassava); Pisang Goreng (banana fritter in light batter with icing sugar and cinnamon); and Caramelised Banana (with ice cream). We all enjoyed all three. Between us, we sampled less than one-third of the 27 dishes on the menu, but enough to know that we 'd be delighted to come again and try some others. The seating area is 'intimate ', with just half a dozen tables adjacent to (but on a lower level than) the bar, so is a bit noisy with happy diners, but it has a friendly atmosphere, ideal for a pleasant evening out with friends. Currently, we understand that the Indonesian menu is available only on Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings, and booking is definitely recommended. The Crown and Cushion is an atmospheric pub, out of the way along narrow country lanes, and provides a delightful new dining experience for northeast Bedfordshire/western Cambridgeshire/Huntingdon. Give it a try!"

The Crown and Cushion is a pub that you either love for its atmosphere and people, or simply cannot connect with. The beers are always excellent.

The pub has undergone a complete renovation since reopening last year. It is very welcoming, perfect for families, and offers an excellent food menu.

Popped in on the way back from Huntingdon and found a little gem. Delicious food, subtly spiced and with excellent service. Will definitely be returning soon.

This is a small but idiosyncratic pub/restaurant that serves beautiful, authentic Indonesian food. If you are in the area, do not miss this. I had chicken that was almost melt in the mouth and flavoured with great spices. The beer is well kept. The beautiful log burning stove cheered a winter evening. Small perfection here.

A lovely village pub with a log fire, comfy chairs, fantastic ales and apparently the wine is good too. But its pièce de résistance is it also serve Indonesian food. What I love is that it's retained the feel of a pub which give the restaurant a relaxed homely atmosphere. The service is great attentive but not intrusive. We will definitely be back!!

I was disappointed with my experience at this restaurant. Despite the positive reviews from other customers, I found the atmosphere lacking due to the stark and cold decor. We chose to sit inside due to the rainy weather, but I did notice they have a nice garden. The menu was limited on the night we visited, and the portions were small. However, the dishes were tasty and the beer was good.

We have been to this lovely local pub on several occasions over the past 2 years. The food is always excellent and is a refreshing change from most other locally available Asian food. The pub is a free house offering a good selection of ales and whisky. Food is not available every evening so check their website it is a lovely place for a drink too though. Also best to book as it is popular!!

Was recommended The Crown and Cushion by someone at work but was a bit sceptical. Decided to give it a go tonight and very pleasantly surprised. Beer kept well very nice pint of an Oakham ale), nice ambience even though we sat outside to enjoy the beautiful summer evening, and the food was delicious, genuinely authentic Indonesian cuisine I had pork skewers to start and beef Rendang as main and can't fault either). Plus service was really good, waiter attentive and made sure everything was as we wanted so top marks, highly recommended.

A really nice small village pub. Although the previous reviews give a very high score we can't really agree on these based on our visit. There was nothing devastating wrong, but the whole experience didn't really come up to our expectations based on the previous reviews. In general, the landlord was very attentive and overly helpful , the menu was quite limited but interesting. The starters were good but some of the mains (the ribs in particular) didn't come up to our expectations when they arrived. The service was very amateurish, with us having to collect our own cutlery after the food had arrived. The wine was delivered without glasses. Maybe being a little negative, and to be fair the fa...

"We 're looking forward to trying the Pheasant again on a normal day. We went on Boxing Day and it was pretty disastrous. Meant to be a treat but it certainly wasn 't. Starters were nice, no cooking involved apart from the pesto. Then the mains. The beef was grey, not pink as I was told it would be but it was tender. The roast potatoes tasted a bit old but there were plenty. The Chantenay carrots were very soft. The Savoy cabbage was perfect but the portion was tiny. The gravy was nice but we got a different variety when we asked for more. The Yorkshire pudding was the main disaster; it seemed old, and very hard to the point of shattering. Desserts. The sticky toffee pudding was fine although the serving of sauce was very mean. The clotted cream with it is, in my opinion, the best way to serve this pudding, it 's a relief from all the sweetness. The apple crumble was terrible; it came in a bowl with the custard already in it with the pudding. The apple was sour and the crumble was squidgy stodge. The service was fine although some staff not yet fully professional. We would have expected a welcoming hello and goodbye but that didn 't happen. Our overall feeling was that there was serious penny pinching going on with the mains and desserts but this is a very bad idea when you are judged on your last meal but we do intend to try again because it 's such a wonderful building and we 've had many good experiences in The Pheasant, perhaps before the present owners, we 're not really sure."
