Deroka - Menú

Last news 20th September it was closed. Local paper tried to find out what was happening but no one knows why or for how long. Bookings were possible online but restaurant was closed.

Atmosphere: not too much light. The place is not very stylish Service: slow, don't care too much about their guests Food: a Mediterranean food lover will not be impressed Overall verdict: no reasons to hurry back

What a lovely friendly restaurant, delicious food amazing service from friendly owners and staff, food was fresh and presentation was excellent, definitely on my to go to list and would advise all to go and enjoy the Deroka.

Really enjoyable food, fresh ingredients and served really well. Service initially was good yet many missed opportunities to make additional sales from us. We asked many times for extra drinks and told yes-yes we come to you, nobody did. Anyway, like I said, the food was great.

I hardly ever write reviews but Deroka were outstanding. We ordered a takeaway, the restaurant rang to apologise that part of the order hadn’t been collected, so they sent a second bike to deliver it and added a desert ‘on the House’. All the food was delicious, going the extra mile on service for a takeaway was special.

my friend I stopped at the departure and I'm glad we did. the restaurant is nice and cozy, the service was great and the food was to die. I had the hard fish steak my friend had the lamb kofta, nicely cooked and very tasty. we will definitely visit again as it is so much I want to try on the menu. many thanks to all at deroka!

Location: close to Hitchin market square in Sun street Atmosphere: slightly dark and has a little of a cave feeling Service: the restaurant was empty and the showed no interest in delivering food and drinks in a rush. It was not what you hope for. Food drink: you get get what you pay for. Overall underwhelming experience and we will not hurry back. Sun street is packed with a lot of nice restaurants.

I had lunch at this restaurant today for the first time. The food was very good, the staff attentive, and the prices were reasonable. However, there was a board outside advertising a 2 or 3 course lunch from £11.90, but when we requested the lunch menu, we were told that the offer was only valid Monday to Friday. This seemed like a misleading practice to me. Although we stayed and enjoyed our meal, I am not sure if I will return in the future.

Staff were friendly, although not very well presented, when we arrived our waiter (owner) had his shirt hanging out and covered in stains. Very quiet restaurant considering it was a bank holiday Friday and the rest of the town was buzzing. Our meal was pleasant, when we came to ask for the bill (very expensive bill) there was no one left in the restaurant, the waiting staff were no where to be found, we called out and nothing, I went to go check in the kitchen and the lights were all off, no staff and the kitchen was filthy. We eventually tracked down our waiter (owner) who was out the front chatting. We had been waiting 15 minutes with no one around. I would not go back.
