"I have been using this restaurant for Indian takeaways for the past few months and have never had a bad meal. Really friendly staff, reasonably priced and the best Indian food in the area. The only slight downside is the £30 minimum order for delivery. There is just 2 of us and we normally order around £20 so have to collect, which can be a pain if you want a couple of drinks first. Other than that really highly recommended."

Great food I’m sure anything on the menu would be great. We will definitely go back to try other dishes. Employee’s were wonderful but the boss was a bit naughty! They even hooked us up with a ride home because taxis were booked up ! Great place !

10 of us for dinner at 7pm very rushed for food and drinks previously asked for separate food and drinks bill drinks bill came on a yellow sticky poster nothing itemized hopeless for a business receipt. Food average at best nobody in my party would be rushing to go back Ver carta

I booked a table for 27 people for a surprise birthday meal and the Empress did not disappoint. The food was lovely, hot and tasty. It was some of my families first time eating here and they all commented on how great the food was. The staff were helpful, friendly and recommended some lovely dishes. They were also very accommodating to the children. Could not fault anything!! Thank you for a great night!

Selected this restaurant as it was best rated on tripadvisor for Sittingbourne, the atmosphere was very good as it was nice and busy and the staff brilliant but as for the food it was good but not great the onion bhaji was tasteless and the mains contained a lot of oil , the biryani sauce had to much vegetable so the curry was rather dry. everything maybe needed a bit more seasoning and spices it wasn't bad but not great.

"It’s a nice pub with a good feel to the place. The staff were polite and efficient. We unfortunately had table 5 which is next to an old chimney. There was a cold breeze coming from it so we sat with our coats over our knees and pulled the table away from the metal hood which because it was overhanging the table meant that the cold air dropped onto the table surface and wafted across the top, cooling our hands and potentially our meals, had we not pulled it away. Most of the meals were tasty but the squash arancini were under-seasoned and the squash in them tasteless. A vegan apple crumble might have been good but the addition of mango put us off. It wasn’t cheap, worked out at £33 a head, with two courses being eaten and two out of 4 of us on soft drinks, but I guess the cost of living increases have hit everywhere. We’d probably go again, but wouldn’t rush back."

"this is a nice little caffe, but it is always busy, so be ready to wait for a table and for eating. Unfortunately they do not take bookings during their busiest periods, which is annoying, so waiting times for a table can be anywhere from 5 to 50 minutes. Once they have a table kitchen, it can take about half an hour. there are good vegan options on the menu, the halloumi sandwich is great, and there is a lot of cake in the offer. I'd come more often if I could book a table, but the waiting time and the uncertainties will take me out."

"Having been to the Phoenix several times and I believe, this to be my second average review of the food and service, you 'd think they would have taken heed, but clearly not. Firstly, like most top end restaurants in London, they are reserving the right to charge for no shows £20 per head). But, what they are also doing, which is very unfair, is charging you for cancellations within 24 hours of the booking at £10 per head. If one or more of our friends had fallen ill over night it 's the flu season at the moment), they would have been were forced to go for an expensive average Sunday lunch, whilst spreading their germs to the other diners. It also poses the question, what would some do if you book a table less than 24 hours like we did) and then decide to cancel? The excuse that orders for food have already been placed doesn 't really hold water. The Sunday menu forces you to order a minimum of 2 courses at £34 per head. Some of the top London restaurants are charging less for far more opulent Sunday roasts e.g. the Jugged Hare at the Barbican). The Sunday lunch served was simply very average and not value for money. Finally, why are the desserts here, always consistently so bad? I ordered a baked cheesecake and got cream squirted on a piece of cake. When I asked what I had been served, I was told it was chef 's interpretation of a cheesecake. The menu clearly stated baked cheesecake. Not even in my wildest dreams can you interpret a baked cheesecake as a piece of cake with creamed squirted on it! This was promptly returned and replaced with a vile chocolate tart, with pastry so hard I couldn 't cut into it without the fear of smashing the plate it was served on. The chocolate was over salted and the chantilly cream served with it unsweetened. Save your money, go elsewhere."

"We had a Sunday lunch and a mid-week evening meal at The Alma. Both were lovely. We were camping at Painter’s Farm, a 5min walk away so we’d booked to have lunch there once we’d pitched our tents on the Sunday. We found out they were having a charity quiz that evening and as it was too cold to sit outside, we decided to go back; what a hoot! Our team came last but we had such a laugh. Both the landlord and his team, as well as the locals were really friendly and made us feel really welcome. The landlady is the chef; and I must say, her Thai chicken curry was delish!"
