"I don’t like to write negative reviews but I feel that my experience of afternoon tea at Hotel Endsleigh last week was so disappointing I had to say something. The waiter was lovely but the maître‘d was blunt to the point of rudeness. When I enquired if there was Ginger Lemon tea available he replied NO and stared at me, no offer of any other type of alternative tea, just a blunt no. When the food arrived I was expecting something with a bit more theatre, what arrived was 5 savoury elements on a round plate. When the sweet course came it was exactly the same, all the elements just placed on a plate. The whole point of an afternoon tea are the little touches that make it special, if I had just wanted a couple of sandwiches and scones I could have popped to M S and done it myself. For £35 a head I expected more of an event but it was all really dull, an anti climax not at all what I would expect from such a highly rated establishment. All in all we felt that we were a nuisance just being there."

We ate outside on a particularly sunny day. Obliging staff moved our table into shade without a quibble. The food was beautifully presented and the flavours were exceptional.

Came for a walk around the gardens. Katie on reception was delightful and Jade our waitress makes the best mocha I've had in a very long time. The gardens are beautiful, the waterfall and Bamboo forest were in particular beautiful

What a gem of a place had a walk around the grounds and gardens they were lovely, staff were very attentive and polite, meal was of 3 courses and all three were cooked to perfection, no one rushed us all delivered at a nice steady pace, will definately be going again and recommending .

This hotel is absolutely beautiful. The day we arrived we were upgraded to a suite which was bigger than most flats. We had our dog with us and everything is set up beautifully. We had breakfast with our dog in a dining area which overlooked the gardens, all 108 acres of them which are stunning. We went for an hours walk around them and let our dog off lead which was lovely. Food and service excellent. Everywhere spotlessly clean. We will definitely go back.

Whilst the food was very good and the gardens are nice, every other aspect was poor. The main waiting staff were very unhelpful and blunt when we asked about taking coffee in the lounge residents have priority and as guests they wouldn't even consider making space for us. Be aware the atmosphere is like a rest home, staff have no personality, a place for quiet conversations not laughing out loud. If you like atmoshere and a bit of vibe then don't come here it's boring, maybe try one of the chain of Pig hotels, much more fun!

We had a wonderful and generous birthday tea at the stunning Hotel Endsleigh today. The first course included delicious smoked salmon and coronation chicken sandwiches, as well as a tasty crab and avocado tartlet, sausage roll, and truffled cheese soufflé. For dessert, we enjoyed lovely scones with jam and clotted cream, along with three delicious mini-puddings. The top-notch tea and the attentive and polite staff made the experience even more enjoyable. We also enjoyed a peaceful walk around the beautiful Repton-designed grounds. We will definitely be returning in the future!

The food was absolutely delicious and good value. The service was excellent but overall bit on the stiff and starchy side which when the place is small and supposed to have a country house feel it. It led to a slightly restrained atmosphere. Does that come from the staff themselves or from the top? We went because we were staying nearby and we were curious to see inside the former 'cottage ' of the Duke of Bedford. Please do something about the hall it has a forbidding atmosphere to it which I don 't think it would have had originally when the place was a family holiday home (or even as a fishing club before the Polizzis came to its rescue). Paint the hall bright orange or something. It 's n...

"Gidleigh Park is a country house located in a wooden wally in Devon. It is quite hard to reach the place on a very narrow road, which is very beautiful, but apparently during the winter larger cars can’t even get there. Gidleigh Park houses a two-Michelin star restaurant with Michael Caines as the main chef (the restaurant was recently voted number 1 restaurant in the UK by the Harden’s Sunday Times Food List 2014). Gidleigh Park also has bedrooms (apparently all individual in style and design) and you can stay there for the night and then wonder in the gardens of the estate, which I saw some people doing when I was there. I was visiting Devon and my boyfriend chose Gidleigh Park for lunch on a Sunday and we took the long and narrow road to Gidleigh Park. The inside of the house was very old and had a lot of charm. It had eclectic art and antiques and different style rooms, the lounge had different tables, chairs and the bar was done up in a completely different style. Gidleigh Park showcased British charm and elegance. You could chose to have their signature sample menu for £140/ person, but instead we went for the much cheaper version, their lunch set menu for £44/ person for 3 courses (you could also have 4 courses for £57). Also note choosing dishes a la carte would set you back £115, so the lunch menu seems like the cheapest way how to enjoy Gidleigh Park. We did not have any wine, but apparently thy have an amazing wine cellar. The three course lunch menu included a small appetizer, a starter and a main course and you could choose from one of the 3 starters and one of the 3 main courses. Our appetizer was “goat’s cheese foam with beetroot jelly, candied walnuts and granny smith apple”, but as my boyfriend does not like goats’ cheese he had a tuna tartar as his appetizer which actually looked better than my appetizer. I was not to"
