"Decided to visit Bar eS as they have a vegan menu and so glad we did. Lovely chilled vibes very relaxing, great food and an excellent craft beer selection which a quick Google showed most were vegan friendly too. Vegan nachos, patatas bravas, refried beans, salad, olives, padron peppers and guacamole were all delicious and clean plates were testament to how good it all was. They had vegan churros too but we were too full. Will definitely return when next in Ambleside. Loved the whole experience. Updated from previous review on 2023-03-03"

The vegan menu is so varied and flavoursome. We have visited Ambleside a few times and have travelled just to return to this restaurant. It’s so so beautiful, definitely a must if you’re in the area. Ver carta

Tucked away tapas restaurant offering delicious drinks (craft beers and cocktails) with a separate vegan menu with a really good range of options. I was pleasantly surprised as over the years Ambleside hasn't been very vegan friendly!

Really nice food with a separate vegan menu, but not authentic Mexican. Enjoyed the relaxed vibes with drink options clearly labelled as vegan too. Ended up being more expensive than I thought it would be but I walked away full so can’t really complain!

Slightly tucked away but we'll worth searching out. Visited without booking and although busy found us a table. Nice staff, very laid back and place has a younger vibe than most local eateries. We chose six tapas dishes to share between two of us and found that to be enough. Also had churros in chocolate sauce for pud! All very nice! Ver carta

We loved the food, and the service was friendly. Based on the casual atmosphere and tapas menu, we didn't worry about prices, but when we paid, we were shocked at the total. We would return, but we would definitely watch what we ordered more closely. We arrived early, so we found a seat in the bar, but reservations are advised. It's a popular place.

Came here after an awful time at the White Lion Hotel. They totally saved the evening; polite and friendly service, good craft beer, and loads of vegan tapas options. Cool atmosphere too with day of the dead style theme, retro gaming, cocktails. Would have given 5 stars but a dish was forgotten. They were very apologetic though. Highly recommend for vegan food.

"Anywhere that does good cheese is a hit with me. If it also sells good beer, frankly I begin to become emotional. Add delicious cakes and savouries and my happiness is complete. Rattle Ghyll has all of these things, in spades and there is much more that looks wonderful but that I didn't have the chance to try. The cakes really are superb homemade and fresh. I particularly enjoyed the spiced fruit flapjack. There is a good range of bottled local beers (including some dark brews, much to my pleasure). Just because it looked so appetising, I bought a piece of vegetable fritata which was savoury and delicious. I save the cheese until last because it was the best. There is a large selection of local, national and international cheese on offer, all of which looked tempting but I wanted to try local produce. There were half a dozen or so Cumbrian cheeses of which I chose a blue, a soft cheese and a farmhouse cheddar. All of these were wonderful on the sort of level you might expect in an award winning cheese and the soft cheese had me in raptures! I think it was called Crofton. I may be wrong but I think this deli is aimed at the vegetarian and vegan community. Certainly, I saw a lot of produce labelled as suitable for those particular dietary preferences and do not remember seeing any meat. Don't let that put you off if, like me, you are more omnivorous because really good veg or vegan food can compete with more carnivorous options on equal terms and there is nothing wishy washy or compromised about any of the great food on offer here. The staff are very friendly and enthusiastic about their produce. Highly recommended."
