Beautiful gastropub in a stunning location. However, on the pricier side with a gin and tonic and a pint costing almost £17.

Website says lunch is until 2:45. Arrive before 2:45 Sorry we 've closed the kitchen But I thought it closed at 2:45? No it closes at 2:30 It was 2:25 Service: 1

If you're staying in Ambleside, save yourself the taxi fare. The food is ok but not worth the £55 for the set menu they are charging. £16 service charge for a double gin and tonic beats any price I've played in London. We left feeling ripped off. Service: 2 Location: 3 Ver carta

Went to the Drunken Duck for dinner and it was beautiful. Walked there from Grasmere and pre-booked a cab back. Easily the most beautiful walk to dinner I've ever been on, and those picnic tables are a pretty top tier place to drink a beer. What a VIEW! Hotel highlights: Great view

We only visited for lunch, so I can't speak to the rooms, but we had a wonderful afternoon at this restaurant with delicious food and drinks. The food and drinks were excellent as usual, and the service was top-notch. The location and hotel atmosphere were both fantastic, creating a romantic setting for our meal.

The perfect example of a restaurant that should stick to doing the basics. The service and staff were nice but the food is massively overpriced and pretentious. Went to the Drunken Duck with friends for a delicious meal, where every course and dish we had was amazing! The menu changes every day, and they offer a £55 3 course menu for dinner. We were spoilt for choice and they even had fantastic vegan options across all courses. Will definitely be back next time I visit the Lakes! Service: 5

I have stayed at this restaurant three times in the past few months and the food has been consistently excellent each time. Whether dining with family or friends, the quality is always there. The restaurant is in a country inn with a charming style and beautiful views of the countryside. The welcoming atmosphere, complete with a cozy log fire and friendly staff, creates a relaxed dining experience. The A team has done a fantastic job. Overall, the rooms and service both deserve a rating of 5 out of 5.

As a Visitor, wanting to experience a true flavour of The Lake District, in terms of Location/Scenery, Local Ales/Locally sourced Produce to eat, and Local Hospitality, you hope to find a real Gem of a Pub like this. It 's certainly, off the beaten track , and is frequented by, those in the know (in our case, my Wife, who had been there prior to us meeting), Walkers/Cyclists/Car Trippers who stumble across it by chance, and most importantly, the Locals. Best to book, if you 're wanting to eat Evening Meal there; it 's served in the Dining Room Area, so spaces are limited, and they fill up VERY quickly.
