"We were given a given voucher for here and told it was lovely so was looking forward to some nice Italian food. Unfortunately it didn’t live up to our expectations. There was a bit of an odd smell as soon as you walk through the door, which wasn’t a good start. The waitress was polite and gave us a choice of tables. My wife had the linguini and ‘spicy’ meatballs, I had a pizza and my son had a kids chicken goujons. The pizza was supposed to be spicy but was rather bland but not too bad. The meatballs were the size of tennis balls, they were so dry in the middle it was difficult to pick them up on a fork, they tasted like cheap burgers. My son’s goujons tasted of chip fat, the fries it came with reminded me of the scraps you used to get for free from a chip shop and were covered in salt. Personally I wouldn’t return, the place was dirty, the fire escape door we were sat by was filthy, the ovens looked stained with fat, if you’re going to have a kitchen that’s visible to customers it should be spotless."

"We had a fantastic lunch for a group of 11, and we were all thoroughly satisfied. Everyone enjoyed their main courses and desserts. We had preordered from a diverse Sunday menu. The service was outstanding, and the staff were all very friendly. The Compton Inn successfully maintains its local charm while offering delicious food, which is quite impressive for a small rural village. I would highly recommend it!"

"I visited the pub with my dad yesterday. We were warmly greeted as soon as we walked through the door, the service was absolutely brilliant throughout and the food was delicious. The pub is super cosy, we were positioned next to an open fire which was perfect on a cold winters day. We'll definitely be back. Price per person: £20–30 Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"
