"As someone who lives in a city the Fat Lamb is set in beautiful countryside. It was fantastic to look out at it from our room. I thoroughly enjoyed the genuine home cooked food. I made my way through the menu, the pies were a particular favourite. Generous and hearty portions. Breakfast a notch below par in comparison to the evening meals The rooms were definitely tired and very dated. The floors creaked and rattled the cupboard door every time I moved in bed. Noise travelled easily throughout the thins walls. The most important part though was that the rooms were clean and the showers were very hot I would stay another night if I was passing through the area on a driving holiday."

Went for a meal. Good choice and, in these times, very reasonably priced we thought. Very good service. Really good food. We will definately be back x

Very busy restraunt, understandably when you get to enjoy their delights. Good wholesome food, incredible portion sizes and excellent prices. Pity there was no room left for dessert.

Stopped here in our motorhome, amazing views. Food on the pricey side but the service was brilliant. Alcohol can be bought at the bar and taken back the the motorhome to enjoy with the view.

Visited the Fat Lamb on an evening. The food choice was fairly varied, being mostly general pub grub. Personally thought the food was good but not the cheapest. The place is a bit quirky inside with the classic car theme running throughout. Would definitely visit again. Ver carta

We called for a late lunch yesterday and it was really good. Fish and chips for me and chicken and ham pie for my wife. It was so good we have been for dinner today and had lamb shank, and beef brisket, which was really tasty and thoroughly reccomend this place. Very friendly and good value, and cant wait to return.

We took our motorhome to the site attached to the Fat Lamb, and as we ate in the pub, we got a free overnight stay. The meals were excellent home cooked style, really tasty and filling. Also, great real ale, well kept and very well served. Loved the motor memorabilia around the pub and happy for us to bring our dogs in with us.

Thank you so much for an excellent stay! Our visit was a wedding present, which we used as part of our Honeymoon. The food here is exceptional. We really enjoyed our stay, I was lucky enough the next morning to not only have photos, but be driven in a Morgan! I feel very lucky. Thank you so much for everything. Absolutely perfect x Sadie and Stuart x Ver carta

As a group of 13 Motorbikers, we stayed for two night half board and could not fault The Fat Lamb, for location, accommodation, food and service. The food was outstanding, everything was homemade and delicious. Staff were friendly, service was always with a smile. Bar was very adequately stocked and always a warm fire going to come back too. The bar area was adorned with auto memorabilia and other interesting items from days gone by. Would highly recommend and will be back, but after we have been on a diet!

We visited The Fat Lamb over the weekend, after a snowy two hour walk, to warm up and grab a bite. We were warmly welcomed into the bar with our Welsh collie and sat by the fire which was nicely tended to throughout our visit! Service was warm, attentive and speedy and when we decided to eat, our food turned up piping hot within ten minutes of ordering! A good variety on the menu too with vegan and vegetarian options which is a bonus for us! The vegetarian pie and mushroom and red pepper stroganoff were a highlight! Well worth a visit!

"We had a disappointing experience during our stay. The bedroom was quite cold, and despite asking for the heating to be turned on, we had to sit in our coats. The bathroom was freezing each morning, and the dining room didn't offer much relief either. The heating was activated for just one hour, which meant the radiator was cold again when we returned to our room. Their cost-cutting measures significantly impacted our enjoyment. We raised our concerns multiple times, but there was no one available when we settled the bill. At £100 per night for bed and breakfast (totaling over £200 including dinner), it was frustrating to be so uncomfortable. Another guest mentioned they had complained about the heating during their previous visit, only to be told there was an ongoing issue. It seems they simply won’t turn on the heating. We won’t be returning, especially since it’s quite a drive to get into town. Regarding the room, we were assigned an attic room (Room 8). It had many steep stairs and low headroom in places. While the bathroom was nice, it was also freezing. The towel rail was pointless since it was stone cold, and my husband had to skip his morning shower due to the chill. We ended up moving to Room 7, which was smaller but slightly warmer despite having a cold bathroom. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly, and the lights were all or nothing. The next morning, we moved our belongings back to Room 8 since they finally decided to turn on the electric wall heater—which they could have done from the outset. It only took the chill off for a little while. On our last night, we experienced a brief boost of heat, but it only lasted an hour. When we returned after dinner, the room was already cool again. As for nearby activities, there’s a park across a busy road, but everything else requires driving to reach shops and restaurants. Safety-wise, the hotel faces a main road, and there are very few parking spaces available (around four); otherwise, you need to park on the main road. Walking to town is possible, but it takes about 15 to 20 minutes downhill. In terms of food and drinks, the breakfast was decent. When asked if we wanted toast, we received just one slice on the same plate as the cooked breakfast. After asking for more, we had to wait a while before we were given another slice. Dinner was acceptable but nothing to write home about; it felt overpriced compared to the excellent authentic Indian restaurant we found in town, which served great food at better prices and opened at 5 PM. Overall, I'd recommend bringing warm clothes for both the bedroom and dining area; we even saw another guest sitting in her coat the entire time."
