"I recently visited a fantastic restaurant adorned with automobile decor. I enjoyed a pleasant early dinner in the lovely garden. The menu had a limited but satisfactory selection, even for vegetarians like myself. The staff was accommodating when I asked to switch out some of the side dishes. I started with delicious homemade onion rings, followed by a mushroom and leek pie that was also made on the premises. The minted mushy peas and herbed mashed potatoes were excellent. Overall, the pub food was top-notch and reasonably priced. I highly recommend this place for a great meal."

While on vacation in the area, my family and I celebrated a birthday at the Fat Lamb Country Inn and Restaurant. We had a fantastic meal and really enjoyed the cozy pub atmosphere.

The burnt chicken and ham pie was dry, the chips were overcooked, and even though we were only charged half price, the overall experience was not good. We will not be returning again. The location was nice, but the back of the restaurant was dirty.

Location, great. Service, ok. Food, poor quality and over priced. Greek bean stew with no flavour. Bread served almost dried out. Saute potatoes were good. Lamb moussaka had minimal lamb and was heavy on tomato paste. Seems like yet another pub in Cumbria that is maximising profit by reducing food quality. Ver carta

If you like old cars you have to visit here. It's brim full of memorabilia all over the place. It's also very dog friendly and they do dog portions of sausages and chicken nuggets. The food isn't cheap but it's very tasty and well made. The staff were very friendly and attentive. Gorgeous setting as is everything around the area.

Accommodation a bit shabby and rooms could do with a good dusting. If you stay and need to cancel no refund, even if they have people that are in need of the accommodation, they can only forward your booking for a future date (subject to availability) lovely memorabilia in the restaurant. Breakfast is a small portion but ask if you need more!

We hadn’t booked, but that wasn’t a problem. We chose a table in shade, outside. Lots of choice for lunch on the menu a specials board. We chose cold sandwiches, hot sausage baguette Niçoise salad. The food was freshly made, generously filled sandwiches with a dressed salad fries. It was a really lovely lunch in stunning surroundings, with a view to die for. The Pub itself is very quirky, full of automotive memorabilia. Highly recommend. Ver carta

We were a party of 6 and none of us enjoyed our food. The lamb was chewy and mostly fat and very lacking in flavour. The “beef bourguignon” was just loads of fatty cubes of beef in gravy. The mash was hard and flavourless. The price of the food is nearly £20 per head so we were very unhappy with the quality vs price. The younger staff were all lovely and friendly however the older blonde lady at reception was rude and looked very unhappy with our presence. Would not come back here.

Stumbled across this place after a day in nearby Kirkby Stephen so glad we did, in a beautiful location, plenty of parking, it also offers rooms. Also offers motor home/camping, was told that if you eat/drink in the pub there would be no charge. The place is full of motorbilia, which was fantastic, the owner is a petrolhead and offers classic car club tours around the beautiful countryside. We had dinner and this was delicious and it’s also very dog friendly everywhere lovely and clean. It’s worth visiting just to see all the car memorabilia!!

"We had a disappointing experience during our stay. The bedroom was quite cold, and despite asking for the heating to be turned on, we had to sit in our coats. The bathroom was freezing each morning, and the dining room didn't offer much relief either. The heating was activated for just one hour, which meant the radiator was cold again when we returned to our room. Their cost-cutting measures significantly impacted our enjoyment. We raised our concerns multiple times, but there was no one available when we settled the bill. At £100 per night for bed and breakfast (totaling over £200 including dinner), it was frustrating to be so uncomfortable. Another guest mentioned they had complained about the heating during their previous visit, only to be told there was an ongoing issue. It seems they simply won’t turn on the heating. We won’t be returning, especially since it’s quite a drive to get into town. Regarding the room, we were assigned an attic room (Room 8). It had many steep stairs and low headroom in places. While the bathroom was nice, it was also freezing. The towel rail was pointless since it was stone cold, and my husband had to skip his morning shower due to the chill. We ended up moving to Room 7, which was smaller but slightly warmer despite having a cold bathroom. The bathroom door didn’t shut properly, and the lights were all or nothing. The next morning, we moved our belongings back to Room 8 since they finally decided to turn on the electric wall heater—which they could have done from the outset. It only took the chill off for a little while. On our last night, we experienced a brief boost of heat, but it only lasted an hour. When we returned after dinner, the room was already cool again. As for nearby activities, there’s a park across a busy road, but everything else requires driving to reach shops and restaurants. Safety-wise, the hotel faces a main road, and there are very few parking spaces available (around four); otherwise, you need to park on the main road. Walking to town is possible, but it takes about 15 to 20 minutes downhill. In terms of food and drinks, the breakfast was decent. When asked if we wanted toast, we received just one slice on the same plate as the cooked breakfast. After asking for more, we had to wait a while before we were given another slice. Dinner was acceptable but nothing to write home about; it felt overpriced compared to the excellent authentic Indian restaurant we found in town, which served great food at better prices and opened at 5 PM. Overall, I'd recommend bringing warm clothes for both the bedroom and dining area; we even saw another guest sitting in her coat the entire time."
